Interesting doco. Main suspect being 'faulty' pitot tubes.

Air France pilots were told (by their union) not to fly any A330/A340 unless at least 2 of 3 pitots were replaced (and they were). Apparently both Air France and Airbus had been 'aware' of this problem. How about the other 30 odd carriers (including Qantas and Jetstar) operating this model? I haven't heard of any other issues with the pitot's.

Still, without the FDR or CVR, it will be difficult to find the cause of this tragic accident. Only clues they have is the automated acars reports from the aircraft.

I don't think there was anything new in tonight's story compared to what we knew and were commenting on back at the time of the accident. For example, I suggested on 14 June that iced up pitot tubes were the trigger: http://yssyforum.net/board/showpost....&postcount=117
