Default Air China CA174 Unusual Route

Air China CA174 depated YSSY at 2100L and tracked out via Richmond and BOTSY, where it then turned southwest and headed towards Oberon. At Oberon CA174 turned northwest again and tracked out between Bathurst and Orange at FL320 344° at 373kts. Just north of Orange it flew directly below Tiger A320 TT506 VH-VNH at FL380 038° and 466kts, before tracking to Dubbo at 406kts. Quite an "S Bend" track ?

At the same time QF508 B738 VH-VZE for Canberra tracked well out to sea and then crossed the coast overhead Nowra at FL200 369° and 348kts.

Probably avoiding the storms, at least the QF flight would've been. The CA flight seems a bit extreme

Just checked the BOM and I think you're correct Jason, things looked pretty good at Mona Vale at present, so I was not even thinking weather.

China Airlines CI56 has just departed and tracking out via Katoomba at present. It will be interesting to see where the go, as the front stretches from Yass to Mudgee. They just turned right to 328° before Penrith.

TG452 tracked out to Richmond just behind CI56, then turned right to 019° while CI56 turned left to 276°.

QF21 also did a Richmond departure then tracked to BOTSY where they also turned right to 351° and followed TG452.

EK413 tracked directly to Wisemans Ferry ahead of the front, the worst of which is heading for Bankstown.

CX138 looks to be following EK413s track exactly.

Looks like Tiger TT689 gets to turn out the lights tonight.

They turned south before Wollongong and tracked just off the coast to avoid the cell near Mittagong.
