Australian Pilots Meeting - 23rd of August
Taken from the Facebook group and also pprune (sorry Mods!).
As an Australian pilot who would like to see some change in our industry, I encourage any commercial pilots (be it in training, or current) on this forum who can attend, to attend. Quote:

Outcome of today's meeting:
http://www.smh.com.au/travel/travel-...823-13i9y.html Apparently, as all media things are, there are little inaccuracies in the report. The main one being, there was no talk of "a strike tomorrow". None the less, a historic and very very important step in finally stopping the slide in pilot pay and conditions. Most importantly though, a step towards hopefully stopping foreign workers taking Australian jobs. Cheers Mick |

my guess would be that this is the way the "budget" carriers will staff overseas flights....
instead of using Australian crews to do Mel - Singapore and beyond, very clever to open base in Singapore and use their crews yes, you are right, pay and conditions are entirely different and reading the numerous forums, there are ALWAYS complaints about the inept crews the budget carriers use on their long haul and Asia flights (cabin) and always complementing Aust crews..... Worry is the standards in Asia will filter thru to australia.... profit before people until there are no more people on their fkights then they wake up! |
