I can only imagine that Mr Murray may have soiled himself after seeing all those pics of the choppers!
I think a slide night at the next spotting weekend might be in order. David.M.

Apologies, but with so many views of the photographs, my web site bandwidth has been exceeded, even though I had extended it to 10Gb per month. The images will be available again on Saturday 1st August along with the last album, General & Regional Aviation. I thought this album was going to be a bit ordinary at first, but I had forgotten how many small regional airlines there were back in the 1980s (quite a change to today). They are worth having a look at, so I will have them all scanned and ready to go for Saturday.

Have been really enjoying the photos, as with so many other people in the forum, but what about putting them up onto Flickr (as private, if you don't want them discovered or used by other parties...) and then use the photo link from here?? That way, you web bandwidth will not be so affected?!?!? Just a thought... |

Grahame, I guess its expecting a bit much for you to have photos of the great 707 lineup (just about the whole fleet from memory) around the Jet Base during the mid 1960's Qantas Pilot Strike?

Michael, My interest in photography started in 1968, but unfortunately I only started to shoot aircraft in the late 1970s.

After a week of downtime for www.16Right.com with a 10Gb Bandwidth Exceeded issue, I now have the last of the photographs from the 1980s, this time Regional and General Aviation. It was interesting to see all the good old airline names again, lots of DC-3s, Nomads and Bandeirantes and even a Heron ot two.
So here we go ... Bandeirante 110P1 VH-KIR at Moorabbin in January 1980 - Operated by Air Tasmania Bandeirante 110P1 VH-FCJ at Maroochydore in November 1982 - Operated by Sunstate Bandeirante 110P1 VH-WDI at Sydney in January 1981 - Operated by Air Great lakes Cessna 402 VH-ROX at Sydney in July 1981 - Operated by Singleton Air Service. I think the yellow structure behind the tail is part of the Runway 25/07 ILS. Cessna Titan VH-TMX at Sydney in February 1982 - Operated by East Coast. East Wests F27 VH-EWO is in the background. Heron DH114 VH-CLW at Tullamarine in January 1981 - Operated by Kendell Airlines - nice curtains. Heron DH114 VH-KAM at Sydney in November 1982 - Operated by Avdev. This shot is in the GA apron, note how many GA tails, and not corporate jets, are in the background. Metro SA226 VH-KDR at Tullamarine in October 1981 - Operated by Kendell Airlines (the cigar tube) Navajo PA31 VH-WGH at Sydney in December 1982 - Operated by Oxley Airlines Shorts SD3-30 VH-KNP at Sydney in November 1982 - Operated by Wings Australia. I flew in one of a Shorts SD3-30s operating from Brisbane to Maroochydore, very boxy inside but large windows. Hazelton Shorts SD3-30-60 VH-MJH had a left main undercarriage problem on 19th May 1990, blocking Runway 16 for some time - fire tenders in attendance.

Twin Otter DHC-6 VH-KZP at Sydney in November 1982 - Operated by Aeropelican. About to touchdown on Runway 25 and shot from
a very handy container that you could stand on top of alongside one of the hangers. DC-3 VH-MIN at Sydney in September 1982 - Operated by Setair DC-3 VH-MWQ at Essendon in November 1980 DC-3 VH-PWM at Sydney in November 1982 - Operated by Rebel Air and departing here from Runway 25. King Air 200 VH-IBD at Sydney in December 1984 - Operated by Norfolk and Lord Howe Airlines Falcon 30 VH-FWD at Perth in July 1988 - Operated by Flightways Nomad N22 VH-RCC at Sydney in November 1982 - Operated by Club Air Nomad N22B VH-BRQ at Palm Beach - Operated by Barrier Reef Air Ways. Aquatic Airways were looking at the type at the time. Nomad N22 VH-DNM - Operated by the Department of National Development Nomad N22 VH-AUN at Schofields Air Show in March 1983 - Operated by GAF. This was a steep approach and short landing.

Nomad N24 VH-NOM at Schofields Air Show in March 1983
Nomad N22B VH-SNL in July 1985 - Operated by the National Safety Council Of Australia (NSCA). There was a big financial scandal centred around the guy who founded the organisation (I have a book on him somewhere). Beech Queen Air B80 VH-AMG at Sydney in November 1982 - Operated by the NSW Ambulance Service. Can't think when I last saw a Queen Air. Cessna Conquest VH-L?? at Jandakot in July 1988 - Operated by the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Dornier 228-201 VH-NSX at Richmond in October 1988 - Operated by NSCA Dash 8 P2-GVA at Richmond in October 1988 - Operated by Talair Grumman Gulfstream 1 VH-FLO at Essendon in November 1980 - Operated by Comalco Merlin IIIB SA226AT VH-SWK at Essendon - Outside Stilwell's hanger. Learjet 24D VH-BSJ at Sydney in December 1984 - In the GA area. They had to balance fill the tip tanks, otherwise the aircraft would tip over on its side. Mitsubishi 300 VH-SMZ at Sydney in January 1981 - Operated by Smithfield Mall. The tall concrete building in the background is the Library Stack at the University Of New South Wales where I worked for 15 years. I was on the top floor of the building with a great view of the airport and aircraft on approach for Runway 25. Also a great view of the 1600 starting shute at Randwick Race Course on mid week meetings.
