Now I know this does not mean anything but kind of tells me that its going to be easier for them to modify a current contract and get aircraft sooner maybe? Im not sure.

Any thoughts?

If you read the article it clearly says lease 767's or A330's until a possible order can be placed for 787's. Having options on 737's won't push them up the pecking order for 787 delivery slots.

Because premium economy wasnt really perceived to be any different frokm normal economy. The seats looked very similar and was located in the same cabing.

A proper J - perhaps like Virgin America, would look very different from down the back.

If they go to a single brand I wonder which reservation system they will retain. Amadeus seems more capable, but they have just invested in New Skies upgrades for Virgin Blue.

There has also been some talk lately that DJ may be considering withdrawing from some leisure routes. I'm interested in knowing which routes these may be. Does anyone have any insight into which routes may be axed?

Cheers.

All of them, or just the E170's? That would have been one expensive experiment!

It will take DJ a few years to transform and get this to work. But if they execute this right I think they will end up grabbing a larger slice of the business market domestically. To think positively it will also push the roo to respond to this challenge so we'll see much better products and competition in future. Though there are risks involved in this strategy and that is by alienating their traditional support base (and image) that made DJ what it is today, and effectively giving Tiger more room to breath. This is also prove that Dixon's Jetstar strategy (be it popular or not) has worked successfully.

I thought the E170s are still good for thin routes like MEL-Mildura.

If the Embraers are going, I would imagine then that the B737's will reappear on a full time basis on routes like Brisbane to Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, Canberra?

And hopefully BNE-HBA and MEL-LST. Virgin have recently gone from 2 x Daily 737 to 3 x daily E190 on the SYD-HBA route overnighting an aircraft in HBA. If the E-Jets go, it may result in re-scheduling or an over supply of seats on some routes.

Where did this idea that the E-Jets aren't useful or profitable come from?
At the very worst the E170 may be a costly exercise but may just be perfect for internal NZ routes!
Very interesting to see the final - no not final -tactics to be pursued by JB!
I am reasonably excited about the prospects.
