I think I've done one of these before but can't find it.
Whilst not particularly exciting, considering the popularity of vintage YSSY photos in the recent past, it may interest some on here to see the international arrivals on this day 30 years ago - 9th June 1981. Some of us can only guess what wonderful aircraft operated these flights, anything from DC-8's to early B747s. Some of us on the other hand were fortunate enough to travel on enough of them ![]() Many of the QF flights are instantly recognisable and were most likely exactly the same as today, only with a few extra stops. 06:06 QF6 06:09 QF2 06:15 QF28 06:52 BA11 07:02 PA811 07:12 QF30 07:30 JL771 08:36 QF12 08:50 CO1 08:58 SQ21A 09:16 SA280 09:26 QF4 10:02 TE5 16:30 EW169 17:22 PX1 17:46 QF44 |

No I don't, but as I said in my first post I expect many would mirror their equivalent flight numbers today, only some with more stops.
06:06 QF6 (Now FRA-SYD) 06:09 QF2 (Now LHR-BKK-SYD) 06:15 QF28 Possibly HKG-SYD as a prelude to today's QF128 06:52 BA11 07:02 PA811 Possibly LAX-HNL-SYD 07:12 QF30 07:30 JL771 (Now NRT-SYD) 08:36 QF12 (Now LAX-SYD) 08:50 CO1 Possibly LAX-HNL-SYD 08:58 SQ21A Likely SIN-SYD 09:16 SA280 09:26 QF4 Possibly SFO-HNL-SYD or YVR-SFO-HNL-SYD 10:02 TE5 Possibly AKL-SYD 16:30 EW169 17:22 PX1 Likely POM-SYD or POM-BNE-SYD 17:46 QF44 Likely AKL-SYD |

SA280 was JNB-PER-SYD
BA11 (is now BA9) but in those days (747-200) they had at least one or two extra stops. QF12 in those days was most likely LAX-Papeete-Sydney (which I did in 1987) or LAX-HNL-SYD. For info I flew on BA11 in 1972 (10 pound Pom) on G-AWNJ (B747-100) Heathrow-Frankfurt-Beirut-Tehran-Bangkok-Hong Kong-Darwin-Sydney. So a few of these stops would have been dropped.

QF30 would have been DPS-SYD in those days.
All the QF flights would have been 747's as it was an all 747 airline in 1981. |

Hi...
I think EW169 is probably East-West Airlines flight between Norfolk Island and Sydney. Regards, |
