Can anyone have a guess as to what that thing is hanging off the starboard side near the tail gate?

A bad case of the pimples maybe.

The defensive-aids suite includes a missile warning system linked to the directional, infrared countermeasure system, a radar warning receiver and a chaff and flare dispensing system.

Well my guess is by judging from this, it is either some sort of Reconnaissance camera or part of it's defence systems.

I hope someone remembers the padlock key for the Herc, otherwise they'll be needing a set of bolt cutters to get out of here!

The covers are off, and the doors are open, but no sign of departing just yet.

EDIT: As of 1455, the covers are back on, as is the padlock on the door. She ain't going anywhere in the near future.
