Like I said that's crew talk/wishful thinking. I'm sure if the 330 numbers increased there would be some upgrades to the terminals.

The new VH-YFF has now been registered with CASA, so it must not be too far and I imagine it will be the first 737-800 "delivered" in the new livery.

Four B737-8FEs have been added to the CASA Register in the week ending 9/5/11 :

VH-YFF c/n 40994
VH-YIA c/n 37824
VH-YIB c/n 37825
VH-YVA c/n 40995

Interestingly, the Registration Holder and Registered Operator for each aircraft are shown as Virgin Blue Airlines Pty Ltd.

That would be because Virgin Blue (holidings) is still the legal name of the company with Virgin Australia as a trading name.

The last Macquarie Investor Conference presentation, from 6 May listed 5 A330's in the fleet plan to the end of 2013. Document is on the ASX site.

As I understand it the only definite gate in MEL is 12 (in the new concourse) though Gate 4 is also a potential but it might restrict access to Gate 2.

Gate 12 hosted AN and SQ 744s during the 767 groundings in 2001.

Only gate 12 can be used in MEL, gate 4 or any other of the Virgin gates cant be used due to E and F fingerways having separate apron taxi guidelines now, unlike the Ansett days when there was only one taxi guideline for both fingerways.

According Air Services Australia at YBBN Stands 39 and 40 can both handle 747-400 sized aircraft, stands 41/44/46/49 in addition to common user stand 38 can handle 767-300 sized aircraft. I'm not quite sure how easy/hard it is to play around with the stands to make them sized accordingly but from what I can see Qantas 737-800's quite happily fit into "737-400" stands and I have personally disembarked from a A330-300 at stand 20 which listed as 737-400 sized.
