Grahame is the timestamp on that ACARS log local?
Report says this accident occurred just before 0900 - which means it's unlikely to be the same one. |

Hi Adam, the timestamp in the log is local Sydney ie. 18/10/2008 07:18 so this is before the time reported in the news article.
Knowing the media, "shortly before 9am" could mean 7:18 am, and the aircraft probably belonged to Qantas and clipped a Qantas bus heading to Camden airport to pick up passengers from a Qantas A330 that made an emergency landing there earlier that day.

Grahame, it was actually an Australian Airlines B787 that made the emergency landing and it was at The Oaks, not Camden.
No wonder the media often get it so wrong! |

Exclusive photos!
Here's an exclusive photo of the Qantas aeroplane, after its emergency landing at The Oaks, near Camden. Note lots of parts have fallen off (like the engines). Maybe this was the cause of the emergency (ie the engines fell off).
Sorry for the quality! Then again, it's got a kangaroo on the tail, maybe it's actually an Australian Airlines aeroplane, and Nigel is right for once. |

On decent into YSSY at 7.30am this morning and was put in a hold in that timeframe, and yes, 20mins.

If SMH is right, which is quite unlikely and this Pilot was only a GFPT pilot as they say according to a man from Red Baron then the pilot has made one brilliant landing in that field for his experience.
Didnt another red baron go down near the Bringelly area about a year back? heres updated link Http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/...50379945.html" In other news a Cathay Australian pilot has stolen from a Macdonalds card machine in Hong Kong- he was becoming a first officer- apparently he was hungry for some command time! |

Could it of been the QF plane declaring a Pan-Pan this morning around the same time ?
