Just for a change Asiana have sent in B744 HL7423 today on OZ601.

Default Asiana B747 Service This Morning

According to ACARS, the Asiana 601/602 services were operated by a B747 today. Is this pickup correct ??

Yup Asiana was operated by a 744, (HL7423).

In this situation, would they have planned for this in advance and flown a 744 crew a day earlier to fly the return flight, or just augment with crew on board.

Hye guys aircraft will be in again on the 24th of April.
This 747 is actually a combi version only carries 299 PAX.

Interesting that it's a combi. I thought these were prohibited after The Helderberg?

The Helderberg was a SAA 747-200 combi that crashed as a result of an uncontrollable fire killing all 159 people onboard. It has long been suspected that the aircraft was illegally carrying weapons and/or rocket fuel propellant.

No new builds, as the nature of the safety requirements makes them uneconomic. KLM still has 5 744Ms - I didn't realise Asiana had them as well
