Just a point about the grey import lenses .. Canon L lenses (of which the 100-400 is one) come with a 12 mths worldwide warranty. Canon do honour this.

I have the Sigma 50-500 with a 2x tele-converter with the 1.6x crop factor I get a focal length of 1600mm. However I do not have auto focus and that the heat distortion becomes a lot more evident. I am pretty happy with my 50-500 however if I had my time again I would opt for the 100-400L.
