Default REQ: Aircraft movement in the UK 1989

Hi all,

Bit of a odd request, but I'm trying to find out what sort of a/c I flew in, back when I was only 10 years old.
We previously flew PER-SIN in a QF767, then we were meant to fly to FRA via LH in a 747-(200 or 300), but we had some dramas with the landing gear.
Spent the day in SIN, then flew on a (Chartered SQ) 747-??? to ABu Dabi and then onto LHR.

We then flew an unknown aircraft from LHR to MUC.
This is the sector I'm interested in. From what I can remember it was about the size of a dash 8 cabin, not sure if it was jet or prop...

What sort of a/c were used for that sector back in 1989?

Anybody able to give any insight, or a UK/European forum that you can suggest where I can find out this information?

Cheers,

Carsten

Do you know what airline you flew on Carsten?
Because if you flew with British Airways, it could've been a BAe ATP, a BAC One-Eleven or a Hawker Siddley Trident; even a BAe 146-200.
Searching Lufthansa's fleet with the kind of type you specified, I didn't get much information, even when searching Lufthansa CityLine.

Only slightly confident that it was BA... but possibly a regional part? Cabin was hardly full, maybe 20ish people... but remember I was only 10 at the time. I wasn't logging any flights at that age.

Hi there

Could have been a British Midland DC9-15, although I'm not sure if BD flew LHR-MUC in 1989.

BA used B737 B757 and probably the L-1011 on the route
LH used B727 B737 A300 / 310 and now and then a DC-10 would make an apperance.

Cheers

Hi, it def wasnt a large a/c, as the boarding gate had lunchboxes to take with you, and only a small amount of pax.

Hi Carsten,

Tridents were gone by 1989. I checked an Old BA timetable from March-Oct. 1990 and it states A320 737 and 757 for the trip to MUC from LHR.
I saw BAe ATP in Hannover in 1988 (but never further south) and we had a lot of BAC One-Eleven at CGN up to 1991. My guess would be the One-Eleven or if you flew LH EMB-120.

Andre

I'm pretty sure Lufthansa was doing those lunch boxes on their regional flights in that era.

The EMB-120 sounds more in the range, if there was around 20 pax.

Hmm, well thanks for the info people. I just wish I could have taken some photos, but back then photos were a luxury item.

Thanks again

Carsten,

if you have any knowledge of the dates you flew, you may get lucky obtaining full details at:

http://www.lhr-lgw.co.uk/groupfiles/newlhrarchives.htm

There are some 1989 dates with data available.
