^^^

That would be a shame because I recall they went to quite an effort to get that registration off another aircraft owner

Surprising really... A quick Google search for "Aussie Rob" indicates he's a totally crooked failed business man. Sounds like a smart guy to be associated with.

Hi NathanJ

I presume that your post is in jest as I recall that "Aussie Rob" was named in honour of a highly respected original Virgin Blue employee. I can't remember the exact details and I might be wrong but that is my recollection.

Does anyone have the correct information ?

Cheers

Bob

What a shame keeping the same name for a failed business man while just renaming a plane which recognised the old CEO

Also just an update

There are only 7 Virgin Blue painted planes left in Australia

VOM
VON
VOT
VUK
VUL
VUX
VBZ

And 3 Pacific Blue

PBL
PBM
ZPM

Also, Is VBZ scheduled for a repaint this year???

Thanks,

Mackenzie

IIRC, Aussie Rob won a charity auction to name the aircraft.

The aircraft named for a respected employee was Spirit of Salty, for a late gent named Salter.

I wonder if VON will be kept and repainted, and if so why did it miss out on wifi installation?

There are 5 aircraft which have retained old names:

VH-VUF Hobart Honey [very early repaint]
VH-VUG Jasmine Tasman [very early repaint]
VH-VUR Star City
VH-ZPK Aussie Rob
ZK-PBI Lady Rebecca

I don't perceive that there is any more going on here than a failure to inform the painters of a new name, or that a new name had not been allocated [which seems to be a simple business thing to do]!!

If anyone can piece the jigsaw together and make a connection between these 5, I would be interested to know !!
