You weren't expecting to hear panic or tension from the ATC'ers on its return, were you? I've no doubt they had been in constant contact with the radar guys while it was dumping gas and getting regular updates.
If the crew were entirely satisfied that there was no safety issue and that they could return without incident, then they probably wouldn't even declare a local standby. |
