VA has around 6 a/c registered that haven't flown/built yet.

Does anyone known why ?

They have been registered because they will all be delivered new to the airline over the coming months.

Unlike Airbus, Boeing often puts the customer's own registration on the aircraft when it's built, so Aussie-destined aircraft will carry the same VH-xxx right through testing etc as they will while they're in service Down Under.

Interesting how when doing a search for ATR flights on the VA website the airline operating now comes up with 'Virgin Australia Regional Airlines'.

Skywest name is gone, official name now is Virgin Australia Regional Airlnes. They will however continue to use XR flight numbers in the west in the short term.
