Default Aircraft holding over lower mountains

This evening I noticed an aircraft flying a holding pattern between what looked to be Penrith and Kurrajong at approx 5000-6000 feet. It did approx 6 laps over my house before it tracked towards Hornsby. I am just curious as to what was going on??

Ta
Jason

My SBS log confirms what Jason pointed out; it did depart for Perth a second time just before 9pm.
