160048 c/n 47681 is a C-9B Skytrain II of the USN, the C-9A Nightingale was operated by the USAF and have been replaced by C-40 (a fate not far off for the C-9B fleet of the USN) Cheers |

Rather noisy on take off to. The T/R's are deployed to minimise the amount of wear on the engine (free wheeling) while sitting on the ground for a long duration.

It has been turned around to face north on Bay 99A, so I'd expect a departure sometime soon.

Just took off from Canberra at about 8:05am. There's also a KC-10 sittnig in front of the VIP hanger now.

Was wondering where the KC-10 was going as I was monitoring this a/c on ADS-B and it was maintaining FL210 then disappeared.
A/c is 79-1710. |
