narita
Thanks to Jetstar finally dropping a very attractive airfare from Cairns to Narita of only $352 return im off there in early December for a few days, to those of you who have been there before , where are the best spots around Narita for spotting.
I will be staying at the Holiday Inn Tobu which looks to be slap bang between the two runways, and i understan there is a roof top viewing area on the hotel (I hope) |

better to stay at the Marroad which has rooms that overlook 16R...remember to have your passport if you're going to the deck, you need it to enter Narita.

Steve,
I recommend going to the Museum of Aeronautical Science. I have been there a few times now, a good way to spend a couple of hours before your flight. If you have some time Haneda Airport also has a good observation deck although it is mainly domestic so plenty of ANA, JAL, Skymark, Air Do etc. Very easy to transfer via Bus or train. Brendon. |

thanks for the tip, i was planning to have a look at the aviation museum, so now i have more incentive.
I read on another web site about needing a passport just to get to the airport, how odd ! can you imagine the stink in OZ if we required that here ! |

Actually, for locals it's just acceptable photo ID. But of course most foreigner's ID won't be written in Japanese, so it is easier to just ask for a passport.
The time that it is really annoying is when you catch a bus in, and someone's left their passport in the bags stowed below.

Steve,
I am a Japanese spotter. I am always spotting in Narita and Haneda Mostly Narita of December is using RWY34. Marroad is a good location, if it using RWY16. The aviation museum is a good location for spotting when RWY34L in use. You can photograph arrival and deperture traffic good light from morning to the early afternoon. But it closes on Monday. example Aeroflot cargo MD-11F Place:The aviation museum carpark. in the morning. I go to Sydney at the promotion price of the Jetstar in September, too Please tell it whether this season, where are recommended spotting points. I have photographed it in "Shep's Hill" in February of the year before last. It was a very good location. |

Please tell it whether this season, where are recommended spotting points. I will leave that to the Sydney spotters to help you , Im not all that familiar with all the Sydney spots, i have only been there twice my self, I normaly stick to the International terminal viewing point, best after lunch time due to the sun. Im staying at the Holiday Inn Tobu , looks like its in between the two run ways, so hopefully i can get some sort of view when im sitting in the room at the end of the day. |
