No F111 as a gate guard yet. The DC3 in Cains was taken down early last year or late 2011.

The Nowra Sea Venom was taken down some years ago due to "rot". I think the a/c actually broke its back. It was stored out the back of the Museum for a couple of years before it was sold to some enthusiasts.

The Huey is that same a/c that was displayed in a pub carpark some years ago in southern Sydney.

The Sea Venom that was on the pole at Bankstown is actually under restoration inh the US.

What is the largest a/c on a pole in the world ?

Lancasters on poles in Canada have been removed.

Are there any Space Shuttles or B747 on poles ?

Is the DC-8 on page 1 the largest ?

Just wondering

Would you consider D-ABYM to be on poles?

Greg, was that the one that used to be at the start of Albatross Rd or where the Iroquois is now?

There is a hell of a lot of stuff there spread between two large buildings but you can see it all in a day for sure. Some of the planes on a pole have been completely stripped inside apart from the cockpits (which are sealed with perspex so you can't get in).

Still, it's pretty awesome to be able to climb into a Concorde, TU-144, JU-52 etc and the other displays are just phenomenal as well. I'm amazed they cram so much in there. I went on a rainy day but still took a few photos if it helps tempt you more
