Hi Greg,

Yes, the new plane spotting area will have 22 car spots including 2 disabled car spots. To keep the free parking fair for all Shep’s Mound visitors, there will be a three hour limit on parking. We want to ensure the car park is available for plane spotters, and not used for other purposes.

I always feared the same. Fond memories of Shep showing me around when I first arrived in Sydney back in 2002... Very happy that we are being acknowledged and supported. I often drop by the mound if doing site work on that side of town.

UPDATE: Hi everyone, construction is underway to transform our plane spotting area! We’ve removed the top soil to make way for the platform viewing area, time to build it up with locally sourced sandstone earth fill material.

Thumbs up

As you can see, things are starting to take shape on Shep's Mound.

The first horseshoe-lookout is being moulded and is still expected to be another half metre higher than shown.

More earth fill is arriving over the following days to compact and build up the ground level before the foundations for the retaining wall are secured.

Exciting times!

Wow! It is going to be very impressive when Shep's Mound renovation completes and I believe Shep would be very proud in Heaven. Thanks for sharing. I will looking forward to going there soon after it's complete.

Regards, Cliff Cook.
