Default Sydney airport tour bus - can you take photos

Hey you know the Sydney Airport tours:

http://www.airsidetarmactours.com/

...the website states "Airport security screening will be necessary for all tours. Dangerous goods, bulky items or cameras are NOT allowed. Photo identification will also be required for all tours."

Does this mean that bulky cameras are not allowed, or all cameras are not allowed?

Yeah I thought as much. Guess I was just being optimistic.

Back to the fence for me...

That's a shame. I was thinking of suggesting this to my sister and her kids for school holiday activity when they come to visit "the big smoke" ... but without photos as memories, the attraction is lessened.

And on the subject, I just happened to be looking at the Munich Airport website and found that they run a similar airside bus tour, where you *can* take photos and video ...

{speedy - shhh!}

Question 6 on the Munich Airport FAQ's:

Quote:
Can I take my dog with me when I go on an airport tour?

Yes, but the dog must be kept on a leash during the tour and while you are in the Visitors Park.
ummm...yay?

I love the airport tour in Zurich. Apart from visiting all the usual airport attractions, the tour stops at the runway intersection for about 20 minutes where you are this close to the action (you get out of the bus and can walk around). They even have live ATC on loud speakers so you can keep up with all the action.

From the bus stop at the runway intersection you can get shots like these:

From the bus.

From the observation deck where the bus tour starts.

There was a campaign a few years ago to allow cameras back onto the Tarmac Tour but, but it was defeated on 'security grounds'. This despite some convincing evidence from the then-driver (who happened to be a member of the old board) that photos taken from inside could be surpassed by some of the extreme lenses wielded by some of the regular Sydney photographers... Oh well!

Rory - welcome back!!!

Zurich observation deck will close in the coming weeks due to the terminal being demolished.

When I was on the bus tour in August they had fenced off the whole apron area around the observation deck terminal ready for the work to start. Not sure if they will just relocate the bus tour office to a new location, or whether this is the end here also.

Can't confirm that Grahame, but I hope when the terminal goes, the seasonal wasps go with it. Was quite uncomfortable being up there in August.
