With the recent announcement about JNB and F Class, i wonder whether this may change the retirement order for some of the 744s.
They have nine of the new ones with A380 style, plus 5 older style 3 class 744s (OJA,OJC,OJE,OJI,OJJ). All these have no first class, and since these seem to be the aircraft that are going to be required, i'm just wondering whether some of the four class 744s may end up going first. Not that there are many left. Just a thought. Also, anyone know where OJH is? Seems to have been missing for a bit. Cheers Jim

VH-OJH has stopped commercial flying and is being prepared for lease return at SYD. Skippy has been removed from the vertical stabiliser. OJH will leave our shores sometime at the start of October.

I remember flying on OJH's first service after the massive repair from the Bangkok accident. Speaking to the Captain after the flight, he said OJH flew as true as it ever did - just like new (although there were problems with the PA).

So true as I also spoke to a couple of pilots shortly after OJH was put back into service, and they said the same thing - is as good as new.
For this aircraft to bounce back after those massive repairs and to serve QF for so many more years as one of the best in the fleet (as has been said more than once by some),it will be a very sad day in my book the day this aircraft leaves our shores Jim

This was one of my favourite images from this incident, the Upper
Deck starboard emergency slide deployed on top of a tree. Notice the large vertical crease in the skin below the opened door. Yep, definitely bogged. Retrieving the aircraft without further damaging it was quite an exercise. The soft ground probably helped slow the aircraft.

Correct me if I am wrong, but OJH also had the oxygen cylinder explosion, after leaving HKG didn't she?

Mark.
It was not OJH it was OJK. Todd.
