Aircraft substitutions - impact on flight/cabin crew
For example, if a SYD-CGK flight has a 763 sub for an A330 for operational reasons, how does this affect the cabin and flight crew who are meant to operate the return flight? With the Cabin crew, since the 767 only uses 7 crew while the A333 uses 9, will 2 crew be nominated to pax on the return flight? And would the Airbus pilots also pax? Or would they have their slip extended?
The reason I ask it seems some CGK and MNL flights have been operated by 767s lately, however these may not have been "last minute" substitutions |

Not sure about tech crew arrangements and what happens there, seeing as it's a totally different a/c type... But regarding cabin crew in that situation, the surplus crew members would pax on the sector home - this is usually the most junior crew (by start date/seniority) who are 'disrupted' - in this case, a paxing sector, which is good news for them!
This situation happens all the time on the Domestic network with mid-duty changes of 767 aircraft from RR to GE (which has less crew complement), or even downgrade to a 737. A friend of mine who is quite new to PER base loves that being junior results in a pax sector in these cases. |
