Default Malaysia MH123/122 today (Fri)

I noticed that it was a 777 that flew over as MH122 today instead of a 744. A quick check on Grahame's http://www.16right.com site indicated that the incoming MH123 and outgoing MH122 were operated by 9M-MRI (B777). A quick check of Malaysia's website indicated that 744s are scheduled on those flights. So was this a once off, an occasional happening or a permanent change? Thanks

A 777 operated Wednesday's flight too as well as a few weeks ago. Im not sure why its a 777, but MAS is struggling a lot at the moment with direct competition with Air Asia, so probably it's for cost cutting. Don't know why the website says 747 though
