Default YSSY Viewing Spots

Please excuse my ignorance, but if an individual wanted to go to SYD to check out the comings and goings (particularly International), but said individual was on foot, what area is recommended by the learned members of this forum?

I suppose it would be the Observation Deck but I'm interested to hear if there is anything else I'm unaware of.

Thanks in advance.

If it is a sunny day and the observation deck is backlit it is possible to walk over to Qantas Drive where it is not backlit. It is about a 20minute walk from the deck.

Great website David.

Could I also make a suggestion - maybe add Twr/App/Dep (etc) frequencies so that it becomes a one stop shop.... everything you need to know about the airport particularly if you're a visitor to that airport. Even a link or popup form anoth site would be reasonable in the circumstances (after all photos are the game and maintaining databases are for others)

I saw in an another thread something about pedestrian/bicycle access to the beach- still not having my truck; could anyone tell me where it originates so that I may walk there from a reasonably close bus stop?

Mike, I have some images and details of the various spotting locations on www.16Right.com which may be of use (select YSSY Spotting on the home screen). Also frequencies and approx cargo movements.

Oliver i find the observation deck really good,i do most of my spotting there its best for afternoons though morning is backlit and its much better for 16R as you get departures and landings and your able to get some good touchdown shots like this.

In the afternoon if they are using 34L you cannot beat the beach.Of a morning there is a spot that is off limits which is the ultimate.
