The following are vids of YSSY in

1984: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3hMh...feature=fvwrel

NOW THAT IS AIR TRAVEL, 747SP, DC9 and the mighty F28 etc, craploads of black smoke that sticks around for ages, shame the song was on the clip, there was nothing like the crackle of an F28 or DC9 taking off.
Nice links though
Thanks for sharing

Enjoyed them all first hand back then, and enjoyed watching them again.

Brought back memories of Tower tours when it was located near taxiway Golf, and the Qantas Jet Base when the B707 simulator used a video camera moving over some basic scenery models.

Little or no security, the good (great) old days ....

In the first video is that a RAAF Hercules? If so, given it's Camo scheme, I would have suspected it to be a C-130 H model and the H's were delivered from about 1978???

I think you're correct Damian as it looks like a RAAF C130H - ie Kangaroo roundel, gloss camo scheme and "Royal Australian Air Force" in red lettering.

First time I'd seen the 1972 video, great stuff. Sure, the music wasn't that great but awesome footage! 11 years older than me!

Love the other vids as well though they've been around on YouTube a bit longer. I really enjoy looking back at what used to be and what I mostly missed out on before I started heading down to the airport myself

Dan

The first video is not from 1972. It has to be post July 1979, as CX didn't get their first B747-200 until then. Plus SIA didn't get thier first 747-200 until 1973 with most arriving between 74 and 79.

The music from the first video was rather funny about a holiday to Bali.
