Qantas FF changes...
what's the catch? easier to spend your miles but I'd bet that the miles needed for the reward will also escalate. don't you just love the fact that you need to spend around $15000 on flights for a free $2000 flight at 200,000 miles.

Sounds like what most have said on here, the current redemption programs and points levels stay, which is great when you can book 11 months in advance for a holiday. BUT, you can also book other seats days or weeks in advance but just burn through a lot more points!

I just went and did a dummy booking for PER-SYD one way and the difference in cost was 6000 points if I paid for the entire flight points only, what I don't understand is where QF get off slugging 6000 points (PER-SYD return) for $60 of fees.

Because they can and people are silly enough to not want to pay anything for a flight and will use points ONLY

but 200,000 for a Y trip to London.... that is such a rip off.

192,000 points for a $12,000 seat + $200 in taxes 200,000 points for a $2300 seat + $0 in taxes All I care about is "Qantas Loyalty executive general manager Simon Hickey said yesterday: "Everything that's there today - all of the value that's there today, all of those seats, all of that capacity, everything that's in that program today - none of that changes." I fly to Japan quite a bit and award seats are pretty easy to get to Tokyo even in J with little notice |

So ive got this right, the same system will be in place as well as an extra system that will cost more points to get a seat (more available).
Correct? |

I would appreciate any thoughts on what I should do with my frequent flier points. I have some points in the QF ff program....more than 30,000 but not a large amouont. I also have a reasonable stash on 2 different credit cards that are not airline specific (probably 140,000 or so all up) but which can be transferred to airline ff programs. As my partner's credit card is Qantas linked I'm assuming that, in all likelihood, we'll end up using the points on a oneworld carrier. Is there any advantage to me transferring all the points to the QF program before the changes come into effect? Are there any pitfalls in moving them into the QF ff program? Thank you
