Last B763 service will be 27th December at this stage.

Greg Hyde 17th September 2014 03:38 PM

Check out 60mins this Sunday as they are doing a QF B767 to Victorville & graveyard.

Greg Hyde 17th September 2014 04:30 PM

Last international service.

But according to Qantas schedule, QF804 which normally operates as a 763 on Mondays is scheduled to operate as a 763 in April sometime...??

Just wondering whether there would be demand to put the A330 onto the CBR-MEL route...??

Zac M 17th September 2014 06:21 PM

Yes there certainly is when Parliament is sitting! 804 inbound on Parliamentary sitting weeks is packed with a 763!

Yusef D 17th September 2014 06:26 PM

Turnaround time for an A330 is significantly longer than a 767, and it may take up as many as 3 gates with its significantly greater wingspan. Not merely a question of demand...

Rowan McKeever 17th September 2014 07:04 PM

Darwin has a 767 in July too, that far out it doesn't mean a thing. Just says the planners ain't got that far down the line yet!

Gate space is not a problem, we have bays set out for A330s here, I don't see how turn around time can be any different to a 763, is it to do with the brakes? I don't see why you couldn't turn a 330 around in 40 minutes!

Tom PER 17th September 2014 10:05 PM

Slightly off topic, but one of the domestic A332's think it was -EBN did a SYD-CNS-SYD a few weekends back, so maybe a sign of future rotations

It would be virtually impossible to turn an A330 around in 40 minutes, unless it is an extremely light load and/or there is next to no freight on it. I'm not sure how much freight demand there would be in Canberra or how many bags per person an A330 in CBR would attract but for it to arrive, be unloaded then loaded and then depart in 40 mins or less would be something I wouldn't believe could be done.

JamesL 17th September 2014 10:47 PM

Probably minimal freight as road transport is probably easier without DG conditions, and you would get maybe 100bags MAX, so that would work out to be 2-3 ULDs..., it's quite possible but your man power would be higher I would assume to complete the necessary duties.

Zac M 17th September 2014 11:09 PM

Correct with the load James, outbound loads are very light, just huge coming in so turnaround doesn't take too long. A 767 can be in and out with a 40min turn and a 4 man ramp team, don't see how a 330 would be too different to that!

matthew mcdonald 18th September 2014 12:45 AM

Yeah fair enough, 40 bags per ULD and 1 or 2 cans of freight I guess there wouldnt be too many problems with turning something like that around fairly quickly.

Sarah C 19th September 2014 06:24 AM

Was anyone out there this morning to get OGR's departure?

Dave Dale 19th September 2014 06:28 PM

I see OGR went to Alice Springs for storage according to APAS face book

Dave Dale 19th September 2014 06:30 PM

Sorry, my above post has been already mentioned by Fred C. My apologies for double up

Ricky T 28th September 2014 08:25 PM

VH-OGN has left SYD earlier today bound for VCV for storage. Only 8 763s left in the fleet.

Sanjeewa Ratnayake 29th September 2014 10:55 AM

This may be a stupid question, but do the 763 en route to VCV stop at HNL for fuel or some other destination?

Daniel M 29th September 2014 12:18 PM

Non stop

Yusef D 29th September 2014 02:15 PM

You can fly a lot further with a very light aeroplane, Sanjeewa.

Noel White 30th September 2014 11:39 AM

Question without notice......

Why is VH-OGR stored at Alice Springs while the other QFA B767s are been sent to VCV?

Is it likely that OGR is been kept close by in case of quick return to duty if needs arise.

Also notice, during last nights ABC's "Australian Story" - Fiona O'Loughlin, from a scene at Alice Springs Airport were three Tiger A320s and the Air Nauru B737. Didn't see any red tails.

Zac M 30th September 2014 11:55 AM

It is possible that maybe OGN is bound for Westjet or has been sold to another operator already.

Rowan McKeever 30th September 2014 12:10 PM

From the rumour I've heard, the four 'international' 767s are supposed to be the four that Westjet are taking. OGR is one of those. If true, it should be joined at Westjet by OGS, OGT and OGU. Makes sense Westjet would want these four as they're probably slightly lower hours / cycles than others.

Have been looking at next years aircraft usage on the Syd-Mel v.v. route. Seems all are 737's

Is there any plan to use A330's as they had 767s on the route at certain times

Picking a random date of Friday, 13 February 2015. 5 out of the 42 QF services for the day is schedule to be operated by an A332.

Interestingly, QF are ramping up the frequency of SYD-MEL services significantly post December 2014 with a constant 15 min service interval throughout the day.

Ricky T 8th October 2014 09:56 PM

VH-OGJ was withdrawn from service on Monday, 6th October.

The QF 763 fleet is now down to seven aircraft (OGI, OGL, OGM, OGO, OGS, OGT and OGU).

I'll see if I can snap a couple of photos tomorrow if I remember to throw the camera in the car :-) Currently parked at YBAS there are:
- 2x Tiger A319
- 2x Tiger A320 (or 321?)
- 1x Nauru B737 (734?)
- 1x QANTAS B763
- 1x Private B757 (with wingtip extensions)

In about 2 months we have gone from a very empty field to the start of a decent storage facility...

JamesL 15th October 2014 11:58 AM

The Former Our Airline/Naura Airlines is VHINU B733, and tiger has only operated either the A319/20 :)

Rowan McKeever 15th October 2014 01:31 PM

What's the 757? Do you know the rego Geoff?

AFAIK, it hasn't left the country yet.

NathanJ 18th October 2014 01:30 PM

OGJ has been parked on a stand off bay close to the jet base entrance all week.

NathanJ 18th October 2014 01:59 PM

OGJ reported elsewhere as departing 24th October 12.15.

Greg Hyde 18th October 2014 02:53 PM

thanks,

Seems to be hanging around longer than previous QF B767

Greg Hyde 24th October 2014 02:23 PM

There is an article & photos in the latest AA on the ASP Airpark.

Nigel C 24th October 2014 02:52 PM

OGJ departed from YSSY today, all red tail.

Greg Hyde 24th October 2014 04:06 PM
