YQW just planned CBR-SYD as QJE6204

Greg Hyde 30th November 2024 02:28 PM

Farnsy or Melba has been on the SYD-CBR-SYD run today.

"It is not all over till the fat lady sings"

Michael Mak 30th November 2024 09:59 PM

YQW is back in SYD with a ferry flight number 6204. More revenue flights tomorrow?

Stuart McCarthy 1st December 2024 01:36 PM

YQW planned SYD-HBA-SYD Monday.

Crew need a day off!

Ryan K 2nd December 2024 09:34 AM

A220 flights seem to be cancelled an awful lot. Is it crewing issues or reliability issues? Last night's SYD-HBA cancelled, with most passengers told they'd have to wait another 24 hours to fly home. I was one of these passengers and the agent told me that the flights today are now "overbooked." Hardly filled me with confidence!

Greg Hyde 2nd December 2024 10:22 AM

You may score a B717 flight. Could be the last, who knows ?

I think it's a bit of both. The A220 fleet worldwide has had terrible reliability due to poor engines and general supply chain issues; even the world's largest operators like Delta and Air Canada have had to ground a large portion of their fleet. I saw recently that a third of all Airbus new narrowbody aircraft (NEO and A220) are currently grounded over reliability concerns.
Expect the same with Qantas' A321XLR.

MarkR 2nd December 2024 12:47 PM

At this stage it’s a lack of crew owing to the poor conditions, pure and simple.

Rowan McKeever 2nd December 2024 01:34 PM

From what I've been hearing, you could've stopped that sentence at "lack of crew" as it doesn't seem to be only the conditions that are causing the problem.

Ryan K 2nd December 2024 02:47 PM

Today's SYD-LST A220 return service seems to have also been cancelled and replaced with a Q400 prop service.

Robert.M 2nd December 2024 03:29 PM

Wouldn’t be a happy camper to have that downgrade!

QF2109, VH-QOB. Would be the first time that Q400s have visited Tassie in a long time, if ever.

Ryan K 2nd December 2024 07:11 PM

Not quite, they’ve been into Devonport a couple of times in the past week or two.

QON has recently flown down to Hobart in the return of Melbourne Q400 services.

Wenglock M 3rd December 2024 02:35 PM

I just had a look at the SydSquad stream from yesterday and it looks like VZG didn't get the split scimitars.

The hunt continues...

QON has only been to Devonport, Mildura, Canberra and Wagga since return of Melbourne.

QON due to return to Sydney via Albury tonight and QOR taking it's place

Tonight’s Qantas A220 SYD-HBA and tomorrow morning’s HBA-SYD cancelled again. This is getting ridiculous now. As a regular traveller, I’ve lost total confidence in booking QF in and out of Hobart.

Robert.M 3rd December 2024 07:18 PM

Feel sorry for Tasmanians, not only makes it hard for them to travel but also hurts tourism.

Yes, the 220 completed just 17 of 34 sectors on Monday, and 18 of 32 on Tuesday. It's been hovering around 50% for some time now. Already about half the MEL-HBA in January have been replaced by 73H or 190 — doesn't bode well for the MEL-DRW-SIN starting on 27 Jan, does it?

Looks like YQW has finally retired, now to get her to YBBN gives a C check was due yesterday

Ben L 6th December 2024 05:11 PM

YQW does not need a C check for another 7 months. Last I heard, it’s planned to remain operational over the Christmas peak as a spare frame.

Zac M 6th December 2024 08:14 PM

YQW scheduled to position to CBR tomorrow and will do some MEL flights on Monday

Greg Hyde 12th December 2024 09:43 AM

Lufthansa Technik Philippines announced earlier this week that the successful completion of 15 A330 layovers (C-Checks) for Qantas at Lufthansa Technik Philippines.

This achievement, capped with the flyout of VH-QPC this morning , is a testament to the hard work, expertise, and dedication of our entire team, who consistently ensure world-class service and operational excellence for our valued customers.

Dennis McLean 12th December 2024 10:21 AM

Thanks Greg. I guess you know that VH-EBR has been in BNE since 15/11 and VH-EBQ has some problems and is still in LAX since 4/12 after diverting back to LAX on QF16 to BNE on the night of 3/12.

Tristan S 17th December 2024 02:00 PM

YQW back out again, positioning to MEL to then operate QF1295 MEL HBA.

James Smith 18th December 2024 07:11 AM

QANTAS has scheduled QF6014 AUH-SYD departing 10:00am on Friday 20/12/24 and arriving in SYD at 7:30am Saturday 21/12/24. The flight will be operated by one of the three A380s (OQC, OQK or OQL) returning from long term storage and maintenance in AUH. Subject to change of course.

At this stage there is no test flight showing on Flightaware out of AUH scheduled for any of the three A380s there, it will maybe happen today or Thursday. Also, at this stage there is no QF6013 A380 replacement flight going to AUH for maintenance showing up until this Friday, so there maybe only be the two to remain.

MarkR 18th December 2024 08:04 AM

OQK has been making random appearences on FR24 this week

Greg Hyde 19th December 2024 09:24 AM

VH-YQY was deleted from the register on 17/12/24.

James Smith 19th December 2024 08:00 PM

Thanks Mark for your update. QANTAS A380 VH-OQK is currently performing a test flight from AUH as QF6020 which has lasted 2 hours 39 minutes so far and is continuing. All going well it should be returning back to SYD tomorrow to arrive on Saturday morning.

James Smith 19th December 2024 10:01 PM

OQK has just landed after a 4 hour 31 minute test flight.

Lauren J 19th December 2024 10:40 PM
