VH-OQK touched down in SYD at 10:56 this morning and has parked at bay 5 on the freight apron.

QANTAS is now showing a flight to AUH departing Monday at 13:00 as QF6013. The aircraft could be an A330 but is more likely to be an A380 replacing OQK. Hopefully, this will be only a short period of maintenance. Any update as to aircraft and/or registration would be greatly appreciated.

Mitchell M. 21st December 2024 12:56 PM

Any word on VXO? Hasn’t flown since 02/09.

Dennis McLean 21st December 2024 01:36 PM

I just had a look at the other 7, all are working but if it is one of the 7, perhaps OQL might be close to heading home

MarkR 22nd December 2024 12:04 AM

OQL is mid 2025, OQC in 2026.

Dennis McLean 22nd December 2024 08:59 AM

Thanks Mark

Zac M 22nd December 2024 09:09 AM

6013 tomorrow will be OQD

James Smith 22nd December 2024 12:01 PM

Thanks Zac for the information. OQD flew to LAX yesterday and will return to SYD as QF12 tomorrow morning in readiness to operate QF6013 to AUH at 13:00. Hopefully it will only be a short period of maintenance for OQD.

James Smith 23rd December 2024 04:49 PM

A380 OQD is currently operating QF6013 SYD to AUH for maintenance while OQK has returned to service operating QF1 SYD-SIN-LHR this afternoon.

Stuart McCarthy 25th December 2024 06:01 PM

VH-OQG, QFA63 SYD-JNB returning to SYD.

Mitchell M. 26th December 2024 12:48 PM

QOD operating SYD-BHQ as QF2017 has squawked 7700 and is currently holding over SYD.

I wonder if it's a gear issue, circling to burn fuel/resolve issue before attempting a landing?

MarkR 29th December 2024 09:50 AM

Looks like EBB has headed to AVV a few months early!

Zac M 29th December 2024 09:58 AM

YQW will supposedly finish ops today after operating 1283/1284 CBR-MEL-CBR

It is due to position to BNE tomorrow as 6216

It seems to be doing circuits there and has done about 4 or 5 so far since arriving from SYD.

Is it due to be retired that soon? I thought they had a couple more years left in them at least.

Tony JC 29th December 2024 12:10 PM

AVV is usually used for circuit training for crew.

I’ve done circuits as crew at AVV, there is no longer a need, this was three flights of a single circuit.

Kent Broadhead 29th December 2024 03:17 PM

VH-EBB arrived in SYD at 14:40 and is scheduled to operate QF43 at 16:30

Lauren J 29th December 2024 06:53 PM

Any idea if EBB has two winglets again?

Zac M 29th December 2024 09:03 PM

YQW successfully operated QF1283 and QF1284 tonight and is poised to position to Brisbane tomorrow still departing CBR at 0845 QF6216

Greg Hyde 30th December 2024 09:45 AM

YQW is about to land in BNE after ferrying from CBR as QantasLink 6216

I won't believe that it is finished until they remove the engines.

Mitchell M. 30th December 2024 02:37 PM

YQW’s final landing can be seen on Only Planes Network on YouTube.

QANTAS A380 VH-OQD is scheduled to return AUH-SYD as QF6014 departing 10:00am local today and arriving in SYD at 7:02am tomorrow morning Wednesday 1/1/25.

What work would have been done in AUH which only took seven days to perform? Can a main gear change be carried out in that time? OQK had one done in DRS in 2023 but it took nearly five weeks.

James Smith 31st December 2024 11:31 PM

It looks as though the return of OQD has been delayed by 24 hours and is now scheduled to arrive at 7:30am on Thursday.

James Smith 1st January 2025 05:51 PM

OQD has just left AUH after maintenance nearly 2 hours late and is now due to arrive in SYD at 8:42 AEDT tomorrow.

I believe that’s the last A380 in the old livery, any chance it will be repainted while it’s there?

James Smith 14th January 2025 01:50 PM

Yes Lauren, OQI is the last A380 in the previous new roo QANTAS livery. The A380 repainted prior to that was OQH which ferried from LAX to PUS (Busan, South Korea) in October, 2023. I read online prior to COVID that QANTAS signed a contract to have their last four A380s (at the time) repainted in PUS at the Korean Air facility there, but this may have changed in the intervening years. OQJ was the first of the four with the other eight A380s already repainted in AUH. The link following the first repainting is below:

https://supertravelme.com/flying/kor...s-qantas-a380/

DRS has been used by QANTAS for refurbishment, gear changes and other maintenance. OQI may be going there for a gear change and could return to SYD via PUS. Both EBE and EBF flew from DRS direct to PUS for repainting after their freighter conversions. We shall see.

Thank you for that wonderful insight James :)

Greg Hyde 14th January 2025 03:08 PM

VH-VYD returned from Hong Kong yesterday (13/01) after around 6 weeks of maintenance & maybe a repaint.

Zac M 14th January 2025 03:14 PM

I would hope it didn’t get a repaint given it’s already in the silver roo livery, many other aircraft in need of it before that!

Speaking of, first B737 of the year to go to TSV for paint went on 10 January, VH-VZT

James Smith 14th January 2025 03:38 PM

Hopefully, following VZTs repainting it will be fitted with its split scimitar winglets in BNE.

Chris Z 14th January 2025 10:57 PM

Got a pic of VZT getting stripped but can’t work out this platform how to post it.

I asked this question on Instagram, response was "Nope, only MRO"

Brenden S 16th January 2025 08:39 AM

Chris, use Flickr, and then post the link here.

Michael Mak 16th January 2025 12:25 PM

Roughly how long will OQI be in DRS for?

That leaves OQC and OQL in AUH - OQL has been there since March 2024 for cabin refit and possibly landing gear work, it might be returning in the next few months?

MarkR 16th January 2025 03:12 PM

OQL is due mid year, OQC is next year it it doesn’t become coke cans

Brenden S 16th January 2025 04:39 PM

No More A380's are going to be scrapped.

lloyd fox 19th January 2025 12:15 PM

The 717 VH-YQW is engine less and all titles and the Roo on the tail has been removed.
