The A220 is being withdrawn from Launceston from March. The ****show continues! Apparently to be replaced with the E190 and a few weekly 737 evening flights. Hobart services are also likely to be changed to E190 and mainline services too. A terrible rollout for passengers and staff alike.

The A220s will be swapped onto the Darwin-Singapore route since the E190s don't have the range.

Ryan K 20th January 2025 08:15 AM

It makes these media events a few months ago at HBA and LST airports seem a bit silly now. All this fanfare for the new A220 only to be replaced with Alliance and mainline crews a from Feb/March.

Qantas has announced that it will be launching a new route from Sydney to Sapporo (CTS), becoming the fourth destination in Japan, alongside Tokyo Haneda and Narita, and Osaka Kansai. Flight number will be QF107/108.

Brian Wilkes 21st January 2025 12:47 PM

Yet more pressure on their tired fleet.

Brenden S 21st January 2025 02:02 PM

107/108 was SYD-HKG-SYD back in the day.

When was that? more recently it was SYD PEK prior JFK.

Brenden S 22nd January 2025 10:27 AM

Back in the early 2000's

Looks like VZT is positioning back to Sydney from Townsville after having a repaint. Do we know which 737-800 is next to have a repaint?

Greg Hyde 1st February 2025 01:21 PM

B717 VH-YQW was deleted from the VH-Reg on 30/01/2025

Dennis McLean 3rd February 2025 01:45 PM

WOW, a 789 in BNE. VH-ZNC ferried SYD/BNE last night and then did 15 to LAX, will be back in BNE on 16 at 04.20 tomorrow.

Ayden H 3rd February 2025 02:50 PM

Just left LAX on the return.

This will become a regular occurrence, with the 787-9 and A330-200 operating “mixed daily flights” according to Qantas. The 787-9 will also operate the morning QF119 service to Auckland starting tomorrow. These changes were supposed to be implemented in August, I guess they were brought forward.

Greg Hyde 3rd February 2025 03:42 PM

They may have some extra frames floating around after the Xmas & School Holidays rush.

It seems it won’t be too regular just yet. There’s only three LAX returns and three AKL returns in total with the 787 before it switches back to the A330.

James Smith 4th February 2025 07:40 AM

QANTAS A380 VH-OQI is scheduled to operate a positioning flight from DRS to LHR tomorrow, Wednesday 5/2/25 as QF6022, at the conclusion of its three week maintenance period in DRS.

There is also another scheduled positioning flight from LHR to DRS on Wednesday as QF6021. This will be the A380 operating today's QF1, ex SYD (OQA or OQB?) to DRS for maintenance replacing OQI, which will operate the return Wednesday QF2 from LHR arriving in SYD on Friday morning.

James Smith 4th February 2025 03:51 PM

OQH is operating QF1 today and will be the A380 to reposition tomorrow to DRS from LHR for maintenance.

James Smith 5th February 2025 09:12 AM

According to QANTAS Flight Status the swap has been postponed until Friday which will mean that OQH wont be the A380 to position to DRS for maintenance, unless it stays in LHR for the two days meaning that tonight's QF2 would be cancelled.

Fred C 5th February 2025 09:59 PM

I believe it will be OQJ swapping with OQI in LHR.

C Patters 6th February 2025 07:04 AM

Does anyone know how far away EBR is from returning to service? Seems there are a few A330’s out of service at the moment

Brian Wilkes 6th February 2025 09:54 PM

I think one is in for a cabin refit. Happy to be corrected.

Ayden H 6th February 2025 10:06 PM

VH-XZD is currently flying to Hong Kong for maintenance and split scimitar retrofit.

James Smith 7th February 2025 10:34 AM

The A380 swap has again been postponed, this time until Monday, presumably because the maintenance work on OQI has not been finalised. I'll post again when one or both of the A380s are flying to or from DRS.

C Patters 9th February 2025 05:55 PM

Seems odd that XZC didn’t have the split scimitar installed after maintenance just saw it in Brisbane & nothing there *♂️

Ayden H 9th February 2025 09:33 PM

XZC underwent maintenance at XSP, the retrofits are being done in HKG and BNE.

Brenden S 9th February 2025 10:42 PM

The Winglets are being removed and sent away for mods before being sent back for refitting. It takes time.

Michael Mak 10th February 2025 08:09 PM

OQI is about to depart DRS for LHR as QF6022

Tristan S 10th February 2025 09:35 PM

OQJ taking its place in DRS. leaving LHR a little later as QF6021

Dennis McLean 11th February 2025 03:06 PM

VH-EBD 2/2/25, EBK 26/1/25 and EBR 15/11/24 are all in BNE in maintenance

EBR is in MNL, positioning there on the 14/11

Dennis McLean 11th February 2025 03:55 PM

Hi Tristan, I just checked Flight Aware and it shows it came from MNL to BNE QF98, arriving at 12.22pm. No further flights shown??

Dennis McLean 11th February 2025 03:56 PM

On 15/11, I missed adding it.

Interesting, FR24 shows it then operating QF97 back to MNL

https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/vh-ebr

Stirling D 11th February 2025 08:27 PM

Flightradar playback shows the return flight, but it doesn't actually show on the flight board for the aircraft, or flight number.

Weird

Tristan S 11th February 2025 09:11 PM

Hmm yeah, I see ... flight back to BNE was the day after the last flight FR24 shows...

Glitch in the matrix.. but means I sit corrected and it IS in Brisbane (which someone looking at it in the hangar would confirm .. ha)

Greg Hyde 17th February 2025 09:27 AM

YQS was deleted from the register on 15/02/25.

This was the last B717 on the VH-Reg.

Michael Mak 17th February 2025 12:23 PM

ZNF is currently flying JFK-LAX as QF6017, QF4 on February 15th is cancelled. Maintenance issues?

Greg Hyde 19th February 2025 09:44 AM

Spike in domestic flight prices set to stay as Qantas fleet renewal program hits hurdles

The ripple effects of the Qantas fleet renewal hold-up have seen overall capacity crunched and domestic routes cut, with even higher prices for customers across the country.
