I'm guessing the reason OQJ is operating to AKL is to try & clear the backlog of PAX due to the airport closure over recent days because of the cyclone

OQJ was put on the run to clear the backlog of people affected by Cyclone Gabrielle and it causing the airport to shutdown the previous day. OQJ was full both ways!

I have had a look at the QF A380 Fleet details on the QF website. It was interesting to note that of the 3 aircraft that have not had the cabin refresh OQA, OQC and OQL that OQL is back here after its overhaul. It appears it has NOT yet done any flights apart from the SYD/SYD flights on 7 and 8 February which I presume were training flights. Perhaps the cabin is being done in Sydney now?? OQA and OQC of course are still in AUH and OQI in LAX. OQC has been there since 21/6/21 so perhaps it will be the last one to "come home". Any comments?

Not what you want after a 14hr flight...

The report has some errors - I know of two other Qantas international flights that diverted - both to Canberra:

QF104 from Honolulu - VH-QPC
QF190 from Tongatapu - VH-VZZ

A number of domestic flights were also diverted and one that was very hard to fathom was Rex flight ZL6674 VH-ZXG from Wagga Wagga to Sydney which diverted to Parkes!? after a 2hr 46mins flight. An interesting flight path it flew...
