QF Freight Movements

With so much going on with QF at the moment I thought it was wise to split out the freighter movements.

What we know:

*QF has 2 x A330-200's under freighter conversion:

VH-EBE is in DRS under conversion and is expected to rejoin the fleet this calender year
VH-EBF is in PUS for a repaint and expected to rejoin the fleet later this month (Sep)

*QF has 8 X A321P2F's on order with a delivery schedule (based on QF FY23 Annual Report) and subject to change

FY24 x 3
FY25 x 2
FY26 x 3

I have recently read that 2 x A321P2F could join the fleet this calendar year.

Great summary Greg! Do we know if Qantas will be retiring the 767 freighter?

Haven't heard anything specific but you would expect that the B737F & B767F days would be numbered as the "new" a/c come online.

MarkR 13th September 2023 07:05 PM

Might be some delays with the A321s given operators of certain Airbus A321 converted freighters are being instructed to implement a tighter inspection regime for potential fatigue cracks in the centre wing-box rear lower spar area.

Brenden S 14th September 2023 07:33 PM

B767F abd B737F's are being retired. Greg, I think previous year or half year results QF had ordered 9 A321P2F's

Is "Hercules" the time QF has named an a/c after something not related to Oz ?

Worth nothing that VH-XMB has been sitting in ASP for over a year enjoying her retirement.

Bob C 23rd September 2023 01:28 PM

I presume that the Registered Operator for VH-EBF will be Express Freighters Australia Pty Ltd.

I expect so, Bob, I'll post it as soon as I see the change.

Should be the same as the A321F.

Greg Hyde 23rd September 2023 03:09 PM

EBF is about to land in Adelaide after dropping into Sydney using QF7532.

Looks like Melbourne is next on the schedule.

C Patters 1st October 2023 02:48 PM

Any intel on when EBF will start operating freight services? Seems a waste to have it sit in MEL not doing anything!

Bob C 1st October 2023 04:30 PM

I think it starts on 3 October.

MarkR 1st October 2023 08:01 PM

Probably waiting on the type to get CASA sign off for the AOC after the proving flights.

Christopher Campbell 2nd October 2023 08:47 PM

Yeah I saw it parked outside the cargo terminal when I landed this evening on QF2085

James Smith 3rd October 2023 09:30 AM

According to Flightaware, EBF is scheduled to fly MEL-ADL this morning as QF7315.

Brenden S 3rd October 2023 02:29 PM

Flight Crew, ground crew and engineering training maybe?

Greg Hyde 4th October 2023 12:18 PM

EBF is off on another training flight to Adelaide as QF7323

Adelaide is clearly a favourite destination, and during daylight ops mostly.

Brenden S 11th October 2023 09:55 PM

It is being flown around for training maybe?

James Smith 17th October 2023 07:11 AM

It looks as though EBF has commenced QANTAS freight services in the early hours of this morning. It operated QF7359, which is a scheduled freight service from MEL-PER, usually operated by B734F or A321P2F aircraft. It has just arrived in PER.

Ownership transferred to EXPRESS FREIGHTERS AUSTRALIA PTY LIMITED on 24/10/23

Greg Hyde 26th October 2023 10:41 AM

From a reliable source, the next 3 A321P2F will be VH-XF4 XF5, XF6, MSN 1695, 2799, 3512

According to Flightaware, VH-EBE was scheduled to perform a EFW test flight DRS-DRS of 1.5 hours on Friday afternoon, local European time, but as it is now after 22:00 there it looks as though the flight has been postponed. It could be flown in the next few days which means that EBE has had its conversion completed and will shortly be leaving DRS, probably via PUS like EBF, for a repaint on its journey home.

Some cool images of EBE on FB https://www.facebook.com/europeanaviator
Appears to be finished & ready for a paint job in PUS!
A332P2F VH-EBF resumed flying on its SYD-MEL-PER freighter flights last night and into the earlier hours of this morning. I am not aware of the reason for its nine day break from service.

Yes, the photos of VH-EBE were great. No news on its next move as yet. It maybe waiting for its painting slot in PUS.

C Patters 13th December 2023 08:59 AM

Thanks James!!

Tristan S 20th December 2023 05:28 AM

EBE has left DRS and is currently on its way to PUS as QF7532
