This sounds like the death knell for the DHL 727, amongst others around Australia.

I wonder how they'll manage the odd 'noisy' military aircraft? Exemptions I presume?

Also, does anyone know what replacement, if any, DHL will use for the Jedi (727)?

Not as of the 1st April 2010.
The RWY 25 RESA project will be officially completed that day (finally!), and you can almost bet your bottom dollar there'll be political pressure from said Grayndler electorate to have as much noise being redirected over the east/west flight paths as legally possible using LTOPS in the lead up to the next election.

Can be expected of Anthony Albanese. Ever since they got elected and infact ever since hes been member of Grayndler hes been complaining like a baby about the airport.

Fact of the matter like those who are complaining here in Melbourne at Moorabbin is that the airport has been there for a long long time- infact longer then most of the residents- unless you have a huge population of 80-90 yr olds and i doubt that :) and people have got to learn to live if they decide to purchase a place within there.

Let's just get a couple of things straight about the "No Aircraft Noise" stuff - it grew out of the opening of 16L/34R, which changed flight paths quite dramatically, combined with weather patterns in the few months after opening which saw 34L/R in use for the huge majority of time.

And then Howard introduced "noise sharing", which saw areas which had never been affected by aircraft noise become affected. Not just the oldies - we bought our place so as not to have a flight path directly overhead, and were impacted by these changes.

As for the announcement re. noisy planes, it does strike me as pointless, populist BS given there are so few of them anyway. And Grayndler was the safest Labor seat in the country after the last Federal election.....

it all directed at one plane , the 727 that takes off every weeknight about 10.30pm, last night it went up over Pymble, and yes it is very noisy, (when compared to all other planes taking off at the same time)

When you can whine like a Rolls Royce RB-211 to your electorate every election about one of Sydney's biggest employment workplaces over an issue like noise, and probably claim you're going to do something about it, you're going to seem popular to the people every time. It also helps that the Member for Grayndler is also the Transport Minister...:rolleyes:

Reports this morning also saying the "Giant Antonov" is included in this.

Can only assume they mean the Antonov 124.

Will make moving outsize loads very difficult unless they make dispensations available until the re-engined Antonov's appear.

Having stood quite literally next to the runway for many a take-off of the An124, I can't see what the problem with them is. They're really not that loud.

Maybe it's the 5 minute run-up on the threshold that's giving the Member for Grayndler the poops:rolleyes:
