Air India 787-8 VT-ANB crashes on take off from Ahmedabad

Crashed 12 Jun 2025 at AMD into residential buildings immediately after take-off. The aircraft struggled to gain altitude after departure. The aircraft was operating flight AIC171 to London Gatwick.

possible causes , incorrect flap settings @ take off , although there are warning alarms in cockpit if this is the case to let Pilot know that flap settings are not correct for take off ? , OR copilot has retracted flaps ( set to zero ) , instead of retracting landing gear ..after becoming airborne , as landing gear was not retracted at time of crash...

The fact that the transponder ceased to broadcast suggests that there was a loss of power. Hopefully the cause of the power loss hasn’t caused the black boxes to cease recording.

From the video's I have seen, the flaps and slats were out. Remember the dreamliner flaps are different to other aircraft.
There was a video of the aircraft before it crashed, no engine noise however you could hear the RAT (Ram Air Turbine)
The other video showing it taking off on the runway does not show any smoke or flames coming from the engines, which would explain FOD ingestion.

My conclusion is that a pilot MAY have on purpose turned both engines off. Easy to do.
The fuel handles were pulled, causing the fuel shutoff valve to actuate and starve the engine of fuel.
Massive electrical failure causing the shut off valves to shut.
Both engines were clearly not running in the video I have seen prior to crashing.

Did the aircraft use the FULL length of the runway for its departure?
All indications are that it didn't. And the dust she threw up on lift off may indicate that the 787 was running out of runway?

Yes, it did use the full runway. The only indication that it didn’t was patchy FlightRadar data, but there is a known signal black spot at that airport and FlightRadar24 have confirmed on social media that their data for this takeoff was not accurate.

I’ve watched the crash footage over and over again and I see what looks like wing spoilers inbound of the engines activated as it is losing altitude . These are between each engine and the fuselage and if activated would disturb the airflow over the wing upper surface and have a detrimental effect on lift . Has anyone else seen this ?

Dust off the side of the runway is normal. Apparently they have been doing works at the airport explaining dust blowing off.

As for the spoilers activating at the end, yes I did see that today.
