Default Qantas crew overseas rest periods

I'm watching QF5, QF9 and QF31 on RadarVirtuel.com enroute to Frankfurt and London (Heathrow) and it got me wondering how long do the crews stay in these cities before returning to Australia.

Is there a standard rest period for European destinations and does it vary for North American and various Asian destinations ?

Any help greatly appreciated as always.

Bob a lot of the cabin crew on Qantas flights from London to Asia are English, based in London. All they seem to do is flights from London to Asia then return. Then Aussie based crew do the Asia to Australia segments.

Thanks for the reply Ash but what I'm really wondering is how long do they layover - ie is it 12 hours, 1 day, 2 days etc ?

I'm not sure about flight crew, but cabin crew have 26hours in SIN or BKK and then i think 60hours in LHR or FRA and again 26hours in SIN or BKK on the way home

London is typically anywhere from 39hrs (1 local night) to 63 hrs (2 local nights). Only one flight per day is done by Australian based cabin crew, the others are all crewed by English crew so London is their home base.

Frankfurt is almost always 64hrs (2 local nights). Cabin crew and flight crew are the same.

Hi All,

After reading this post and in particular the site Radar Virtuel.com.

What an interesting site, and seeing flights around Sydney too.

Hi Peter & Kieran

I've only been using the site for a month or so and have never watched any Australian activity (actually, didn't know it existed) as I presumed it was just based around Europe.

Another great site I was told about is http://casper.frontier.nl/eham/ which is centred on Amsterdam with more cities to follow. It doesn't show the regos of aircraft but is still very good.

Cheers

Bob

Yes Bob...... just been on the Caspier. frontier site, good how it shows the day and night as you scroll across the world and the navigations lights on the aircraft too.

Good site..

Thanks again Bob.
