Airport land up for sale
DOLTONE House is negotiating with Sydney Airport over a major development proposal at Kyeemagh.
Sounds like the land around the old control tower, not sure. Maybe Nigel might have an idea. http://www.theleader.com.au/news/loc...e/2209313.aspx

Urgh I hope this doesn't affect the beach as a spotter friendly area.
Interesting to see what will happen.

A back-up for the new one I believe. Not as well equipped, but certainly capable to grind the airport to a gentle halt.

Doesn't the rest of that building house the Sydney Terminal Control Unit?

There is a 'glassed' walkway between the tower and the main building which is still used (their cafeteria is visible from the beach parking area).
What other area is owned by the airport in that vicinity?

It will happen, BoM do need to set-up on a new site for around a year or more for a comparison of the current and new site. BoM also need funding to set-up a new site, which is something that has been quite hard to do under the budget they have been allocated over the last few years.
