New A330 for Qantas
Found this today. Looks like VH-EBM is now on the flightline in Toulouse. You can see the tail of it in the bottom left.

Why the 'pod' arrangement under the nose wheel in that photo?

The A330F has a taller nose gear that doesn't fit in the existing design (to level the fuselage). Thus the 'bulge'.

The bulge is just plain ugly (and a bit of a bandaid solution). Why not lower the main gear, and add smaller engines.
Airbus, French for "anything goes".
