Seems our friends on Little Collins St (Melbourne) have decided that some of the airline food served up is below par, so, Vu de Monde chef is setting up a cafe where passengers can buy their own meal before boarding.
this should be a hit with Melbournites who have a great appetite for fine food...though the prices seem a little steep to me. Vu de Monde is a fantastic eatery too. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/nat...-1225861045785 http://www.vuedemonde.com.au/ |

Hi Monty
I quite like airline food and can only remember one poor meal - boiled fish, potatoes and beans on a Good Friday flight from Melbourne to Perth in 1992. Yuk - exactly what we had for lunch as kids on Good Friday so it wasn't a good memory. And if I was that concerned now about the standard of food, I wouldn't pay the outrageous prices people want for sandwiches, cakes or muffins at airports or Cafe Vu's $15 for a meal in a box, I'd just make my own as I have in the past when flying with LCCs. Or fill up on Maccas or Krispy Kremes before you fly. |

All the flights I have been on with Qantas, Singapore, Malaysia, Air NZ etc have been to a good standard. Some have been better than others, but nothing has been truly bad.
In my opinion airline food is not as bad as people say it is. |

I agree with Andrew.
However it does irritate me when "the meal" is advertised as dinner, as opposed to a refreshment. I have had an experience on QF just last weekend, outbound one was a "dinner" service flight, the return was a refreshment. On both flights sandwiches were served. Dont believe in false advertising. However an advertised dinner flight should be just that. Subject to poor weather and the like when it can't be done. I totally understand that. There was no such instance on my flight. Kind regards, Geoff |
