Pulsing 'vanity' lights ??
Hi All,
Was outside last night at dark time and watching a QF jet on departure from YSCB. I noticed the tail fin lights 'pulsing' ? I dunno if the lights that shine back onto the tail are actually called 'vanity lights' but it seemed to be that it was these ones that were pulsing. Quite an unusual effect watching the roo light up/go dark/light up etc etc. Then they just shut off altogether and the jet went on its merry way. Just curious as to why these lights would have been pulsing though ? Cheers R |

The lights are called logo lights.
Logo lights and landing lights on 737s can be switched by the crew to either pulse or steady on. |

The lights did their job...you noticed them and noticed who the carrier was.

I think there is only 1 QF738 with that mod with the tail flashing. If I recall correctly someone wired it up incorrectly.

In TAA B727 days , I think they called them " Tel Tail " lights.
I also notice an increasing number of QF Dash-8-400 have pulse lights. Very good for ops at country dromes |
