Default Jetstar Announces MEL-BNK

Quote:
Oct 22, 2010

Melbourne Airport welcomes Jetstar's reintroduction of services from Victoria to Ballina Byron with a new three-times weekly service starting from 21 December.
The service will provide 55,000 low fare seats between Melbourne and Ballina Byron per year.

Melbourne Airport CEO Chris Woodruff said the announcement was great news for Victorians and well timed for those travelling to Byron Bay, Ballina and the Tweed Coast in the summer peak season.

"These services reflect the strength of our local economy as well as Melbourne and Victoria's standing as a key Australian destination," he said.

"This route further strengthens our already solid low fare offering and provides travellers with even greater choice."

"Melbourne Airport's proximity to the city, significant domestic and international connections, well established transport links and continued investment into key infrastructure make us ideally placed to support the growth of our airline customers."

"This is the latest in a series of announcements Jetstar has made about additional services from Melbourne over the last few months."

"Earlier this year, Jetstar increased services out of Melbourne to Cairns, Newcastle, Hobart and the Gold Coast. In July, Jetstar commenced services to Brisbane and increased services to the Sunshine Coast and Townsville."

"From mid December Jetstar will also introduce new international routes out of Melbourne to Auckland and Queenstown on the trans-Tasman route and, subject to regulatory approval, two class daily services to Singapore."

"We would like to thank Jetstar for their continued support and investment in the Victorian market."

This is great news. However, looking at the timetable on the Qantas website, there is nothing after March. Does anyone know if this is seasonal service or have the later schedules not been loaded yet?

Looks like the schedules have been updated. Flights can be booked for all year round.

If they're in the mood for updates, then perhaps they can update the JQ site which still states that JQ723 (the recently announced additional SYD-HBA service) departs from T1, where as the QF site states that it departs from T2. If this isn't changed before launch then I can invisage everyone getting the train/cab to the International Terminal in SYD, only to discover the flight infact departs from the Domestic Terminal and hence miss the cut off for check-in!

It must be a bug with the JQ site. Another poster said some other domestic Australian flights are apparently departing from SYD T1 as well.
