I'm not smart enough to understand their report.
Was it air-con or undercarriage problem? |

We were lucky enough to fly to Lord Howe last year (cabin heating was more than comfortable). The big issue looming was that the aircraft used on this run was an older smaller version of the Dash 8 due to runway restrictions on the island. This aircraft was due to reach the end of its serviceable life - I have a recollection of this happening in March this year. The other aircraft in Qantaslink's fleet weren't suitable. As of last March no alternative aircraft had been determined and the islanders were concerned that this vital link would be interrupted. Another part of the issue was also waiting for the NSW government to negotiate a new contract for whoever the service provider was going to be. Does anyone know if there have been any developments with these issues?

TQG has more hours on it than TQS, and neither are at the end of their service lives.
My sources tell me that it was a failed ACM which caused the problem. Straight bleed air would have made conditions in the cabin very uncomfortable until the crew were in a position to switch it off. |

Thanks Max and Hugh, good news all round. Flying into and out of Lord Howe is absolute magic. And I have to say the service on board was amazing - one very busy flight attendant on both legs.
