People travelling to and from Perth to towns across regional Western Australia are bracing for extended delays as regional pilots take 24 hours of strike action.

Members of the Australian Federation of Air Pilots (AFAP) working for Qantas subsidiary Network Aviation will not fly today as their protracted negotiations with the airline hit another stalemate.

The airline flies routes to Broome, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, and Port Hedland, as well as providing fly-in fly-out (FIFO) worker flights to a number of mine sites.

The Qantas Group said it had been forced to cancel 35 return flights, re-booking impacted customers on alternate Qantas, Jetstar, and charter airlines.

"Around 95 per cent of regular customers scheduled to travel on Thursday will get to their destination, as well as around 70 per cent of charter customers," a spokesperson said.
