Sigh. :(
However, QF have apparently confirmed (As per this and other forums) that they will be repainting another aircraft into Aboriginal c/s sometime this year, so I suppose not all is lost.
So maybe there is hope after all?

With all the 744's they've 'lost' in recent years they couldn't find a name to put on OEJ? Or is that something that'll go on once it lands in Sydney? Very strange. Though, in saying that, doesn't 767 OGO also go around nameless?
While I'm sure OEJ is a great example of the new livery in all its splendour, it's such a shame to lose the Wunala paintjob.
Hoping the new indigenous livery is something worth waiting for.

I think VH-OGO is called Unity.

22nd January 2012, 08:22 AM
I think you will find it WAS called Unity. If I recall there were several planes with names like this when Qantas and Australian merged, but those names have long since disappeared.

Great photo Chris given the conditions.......doesn't look like todays departure to DFW will be much better weatherwise.
Dan Collins
22nd January 2012, 09:18 AM
Thanks for the replies, OGO may be called 'Unity' but I'm pretty sure she's not wearing it on the fuselage.
According to what I've been reading on the forums, some aircraft are named once they reach Australia, so OEJ's name might be on her when she departs for DFW this afternoon. Will anyone be there to see her off?

OEE - Nullabor Plain.
OEF - Sydney.
OEG - Parkes.
OEH - Hervey Bay.
OEI - Ceduna.
OEJ - Wunala Dreaming.

To all thank you for the beautiful memories of Wunala Dreaming and great tribute video Dan. I recorded a very last video myself late December... Wunala Dreaming flying over my house on approach coming back from Buenos Aires... my very last sight...
BUT for me the real true Wunala Dreaming was and will ever be VH-OJB......somehow those white engine cowlings never did it for me on VH-OEJ.....

might take 10 or so years to complete it all! - because you've got the Dash 8s and Qantaslink a/c as well
speaking of liveries it would be nice if we could go 'retro' on 1 or 2 a/c in the fleet
+1 I would love to see a 744 in the retro scheme, complete with the winged kangaroo and orangey-red cheat line.

Why has -OEJ been in Sydney for so long after it arrived back from a repaint and service for only a week and a half?
Fred C
5th March 2012, 05:16 PM
VH-OEJ is in AVV having a reconfig. What is this service you are talking about?
Anthony F
5th March 2012, 10:24 PM
I thought VH-OEE is in Avalon. Are there 2 aircraft have the interior refit at once?
Fred C
7th March 2012, 03:45 PM
Yes VH-OEE is in AVV but it is there for a maintenance check. In fact it should have returned and be on its way to DFW. VH-OEF should be heading down shortly for a maintenance check.;)
So VH-OEJ is in AVV being reconfigured.
They can actually accommodate up to three 747's at once in AVV.:D
Still wondering what is the service you refer to that VH-OEJ had whilst being painted?
Anthony F
8th March 2012, 10:06 AM
Hi Fred, -OEJ in service I was referring was was the flights it operated just after it returned from repaint.

Why do they paint the aircraft in new livery only to retire it sooner than some of the other aircraft.
Jason H
2nd April 2012, 12:28 PM
It's only a decal sticker on OJO, at least i think it is. As for the new livery, I think it has to do with when it is available for the repaint.

Hi All,
Rowan - OEI Depart AVV Monday Night (2/4) @1950 as QF6196 to Sydney flying FL450
As she only arrived in AVV 26/3 as QF6195, I assume it was only light Maint done.
I did speak to a Boeing and QF Engineer in Lara and the Boeing person stated he was a Landing Gear Specialist and mentioned OEI was in the hanger.
From that info, I assume he was working on the Landing Gear on OEI, as he didn't know what other A/C was there.

Rowan,
I have noticed that a few of the AVV-SYD ferry flights have been at FL450.
For what reason I don't know.
The only reason I could think of was to keep away from RPT services
Anyone else know why they ops at FL450??

Here is your official answer from Travel Daily:
QF on Wunula livery
QANTAS says it “remains fully committed to showcasing the diversity of Indigenous art”, after confirming to TD that its Wunula Dreaming livery has now been removed from the skin of one of its Boeing 747-400 aircraft.
The vibrant Wunula Dreaming artwork had graced the QF 747 for nearly two decades.
“The paint scheme from Balaringi Studio had reached the end of its life and the aircraft has been restored to a standard Qantas livery,” a QF spokesman told Travel Daily today.
“We will unveil a new indigenous livery on a different aircraft by the end of 2012 and the Yananyi Dreaming aircraft - a Boeing 737 by Balarinji & Central Australian artist Rene Kulitja - continues to fly,” Qantas said.
And this.........
QANTASLINK is to reveal a new Q-400 ‘Golden Guitar’ livery tomorrow in celebration of the carrier’s launch of the 40th Tamworth Country Music Festival

When Qantas have their planes resprayed overseas, does the origianl paint taken off to bare metal or do they scuff the existing paint and paint over it?
They are stripped to bare metal to keep the paint weight at the minimum.
VH-QOH the white is still the factory paint but the pink was added to the top.

QF without a oneworld logojet now?
Try getting away with that in Skyteam or *A!?!?
Dan Collins
27th June 2012, 10:23 AM
I was surprised enough when I saw EBL with the titles removed, but now to have no aircraft with the titles at all seems a little odd. I doubt QF are saving much by not wearing the stickers on their aircraft. By now I'd have thought we might have a 737 and 767 wearing the titles as well.
Oh well... Is oneworld not as strict on that rule?
Dan

Doubt it, considering they are a founding member...
Ash W
27th June 2012, 05:14 PM
Anything is possible especially considering the cold relationships most OneWorld carriers have with each other. But doubt removal of logo's is a sign that they are going to exit though.
JamesL
28th June 2012, 12:36 AM
I wonder why that is... Let's match flight for flight and metal for metal... I had a smile on my face when AA announced they planned USA-AUS and the fact they had no interest in QF in its future plans :)
Ash W
28th June 2012, 07:05 AM
Ironic you mention AA as they are the one OneWorld carrier that Qantas does work with well. But this issue of not co-operating isn't confined to Qantas, but more or less the whole of OneWorld.
Morris Biondi
28th June 2012, 08:31 AM
What's this about AA planning services to Aus?
Last i heard they no intention of starting services as rumours came out when they ordered their 77ws, they planned to start up, but they denied it.

I would be curious to see if they changed this on the port side of the fuselage of VH-XZA, but not the starboard side. The reason being that they could easily add the letters 'n' and 's' to the port side, but on the starboard side, there is simply not enough space between the words 'Australia' and 'Qantas' to do so.

I saw Mendoowoorrji in the flesh yesterday.
What an awesome paint job.
Joseph Saragozza.
13th December 2013, 10:52 PM
I'd have to agree Todd.
I'll happily admit I really was disappointed with it when I first saw pictures, as opposed to the other three (or four including OJB). But in flesh it is quite impressive.
Is there any word on when the A333 will sport the new livery? The first aircraft was delivered in 2003, surely a C or D check will be coming up soon.
Or will they get painted when the new cabin is installed?

Joseph, I have heard they will get the same treatment as VH-OJA. But that could be up in the air given the current situation.

Hi All,
I have just herd from another forum that VXB is off for Re-Spray into STD Qantas Livery.
Is that correct? Does this mean that VXB will be sold soon? Is any other a/c taking on VXB livery?
Please advise

Hahaha nice one Damian.
Stuart according to flight radar she is still flying in current colours and in en route from MEL-BNE QF620.
I wouldn't be surprised if she is reprinted into standard livery like he sisters soon enough.

Got an awesome shot of VXB landing on 16 last night, when waiting for the Etihad 77W. She ain't that old; QFA keep their aircraft until they are only fit for the tuna cannery, so I sincerely doubt the reliability of the 'other' forum.
Just my 2c worth - you can't always believe what you read on the WWW.

If it is being painted into corporate livery why would they then sell it? The a/c would now be pushing 12 years old, so would be due for a respray just like her similar aged sisters are now getting.

That looks fantastic, even better than on the -200 series. I've always thought the 'QANTAS' titles on the A330-200 looks too big. It fits in perfectly on the -300 though. Long overdue too, it's been a long time since the rebrand. I'm amazed that after six years even a lot of the Qantas branding/signage at our airports are still in the old style.

Sorry Ryan, going to have to disagree on this one. I was actually really looking forward to the revised scheme being applied. Unfortunately, I think it looks quite 'meh' and much prefer the new scheme as it appears on the A332. The A333 length just doesn't seem to suit it. I guess we all are entitled to our own opinions :)

According to another site, Lady Gaga is performing in Seoul at present and has a concert in Perth on 20 August. We're expecting a Korean freighter from Seoul which is probably bringing in stage equipment so maybe the QF A330, which is returning on 17 August, (a charter flight), may be Lady Gaga and entourage's ride.
