thks lloyd,

Not sure if PH reg had been whitted-out.

It may well become VH-KBX and the paperworks is still in the works.

https://www.southernx.aero/sites/default/files/newspdf/Press%20release%20PH-KBX.pdf

It's will be interesting to see it's final fate as the NL press are reporting that it will stay in VIP config.

VH-KBX was a DH82A until 2/6/17 when its rego changed to VH-KPQ

VH-KBX was added to the register on 14/08/17

Hi Lloyd, Was the SBX shot taken on Saturday 19th the flight from Hervey Bay? I was on that flight and we were offloaded in a standoff bay. The techs and vehicles arriving after offload looked like it went tech or needed some attention.

A vital new link has been secured between Queensland and China, with direct flights between Brisbane and Beijing set to take off in December.
Brisbane Airport Corporation announced on Sunday that a deal had been struck between the airport and Air China - the national carrier of The People’s Republic of China and the home airline of China’s mega-hub, Beijing Capital Airport.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5987121/Malaysia-Airlines-questioned-following-emergency-landing-Brisbane.html

ATSB issues safety notice on pitot probes after MAS A330 incident

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has issued a safety advisory notice after a Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Airbus A330-300 took off from Brisbane Airport without the covers for the aircraft’s three pitot probes being removed.

The ATSB preliminary report on the July 18 2018 incident, published on Thursday, said an inspection of the aircraft prior to departure “did not identify the presence of the pitot probe covers and they were not removed prior to the aircraft’s departure”.

As a result, the aircraft, 9M-MTK, pushed back from the gate and proceeded to Runway 01 for takeoff with its three pitot probes, which are used to measure airspeed, covered by tightly woven Kevlar sheaths about 12cm long with a 30cm streamer.

The ATSB report said the flightcrew had detected an airspeed anomaly during the takeoff roll, including red speed (SPD) flags on both primary flight displays (PFD).

It said there was no indication on the recording from the cockpit voice recorder that the captain – who was the pilot monitoring and who held responsibility for the decision to reject the takeoff or continue – and the first officer, as the pilot flying, discussed rejecting the takeoff.

After takeoff, the flightcrew carried out actions for unreliable airspeed indications and made a PAN call to air traffic control (ATC), advising they had unreliable airspeed indications.

The flightcrew then flew the aircraft to the north-east of Brisbane Airport where they carried out several checklists, troubleshooting and preparing for an approach and landing on runway 01.

“In accordance with published procedures, the flightcrew turned off the three air data reference systems (ADRs),” the ATSB preliminary report said.

“This activated the aircraft’s backup speed scale (BUSS), which provided a colour-coded speed scale derived from angle of attack and other information, and altitude derived from GPS data. The flightcrew also obtained groundspeed information from ATC, and used the aircraft’s radar altimeter.”

What a failure of procedures, missed by multiple party’s including the captain on walk around, and even at takeoff. MH are clearly not used to having pitot covers on turnaround, which as the report suggests, is an idea at Brisbane:

The ATSB report noted there had been at least 15 incidents between 2008 and 2015 involving high-capacity regular public transport (RPT) aircraft departing from Brisbane Airport where one of the pitot probes had a partial or total blockage, at least four of which were identified as insect nests

Today the new Dryandra Rd tunnel linking Moreton Drive to the RFDS,GA Terminal,BNE jet base and Loop Rd plane spotters area is expected to open. This will take motorists under the 2 new taxiways under construction.Yankee and Zulu are those and will link both runways heading in a west-east direction. The new roadway will head North-South below the taxiways.
These 2 taxiways have been completed above the tunnel and roadway and now the old Dryandra Rd will be closed so part of it will be made into the taxiways as well.

Some BNE news.

Around 2-3 weeks ago the new Dryandra rd tunnel opened to our Loop Rd viewing area. Also
our current runway 01/19 will be renamed 01R/19L on 8 Nov and a new ATC Ground frequency also added on that day as well.

Plenty of new aircraft changes at BNE over the next 6 weeks.

KE go to 789 in 5 days time 5 times a week and then daily from beginning Dec till beginning of March.

NZ start A321N flights on 19 Nov.BNE will be now the first flight as aircraft delivery has been slightly delayed now.

CI start 77W daily flights on 2 Dec replacing the 359 for 3 months on their TPE-BNE-AKL-BNE-TPE routing.

BR change from the 332 to 333 on 4 Dec on their 5 times a week service TPE-BNE-TPE.Sometime next year the 789 will replace the 333.
BTW there are 3 Logo jets in the A330-300 fleet of 9.

Samoa Airways start 13 Nov twice weekly to BNE with the 738.

Other exciting developments will be revealed soon. :)

Steve Jones

Also, who's proposing to bring the E190 (or E190E2) to Brisbane?

787-10 I'm guessing must be SQ, but I haven't heard of that being announced for BNE yet. It would be a logical replacement for the one remaining 777-200 frequency or perhaps also replacing one or more of the A350s.

Malaysia is a gain (regain) while Jetgo was a loss, Air China and Hainan were last year although Air China has suspended flights. I would not be surprised if Hainan also suspend soon, with sister airline pulling out of OOL earlier this year and their finances under a public cloud.

lloyd fox
3rd December 2018, 06:59 PM
They are not all international

Hevilift started in April BNE-MCY-THG

and later BNE-Middlemount and BNE-Moranbah and occasionally BNE-Roma

Pionair started in August BNE-MILES and BNE-Roma with the 146-200.Operates on a 10 day cycle

Malaysia started in June 4 a week to KUL

Samoa Airways started 13NOV 2 a week to APW

PAE 757F services to start this week.

Jetgo was the airline BNE lost

E-190 is Air Vanuatu from June 2019 and 787-10 is EVA AIR.
Eva will operate both 787-9 and 787-10 to BNE from mid 2019.

Air China is back on 18 Jan for 10 weeks then is suspended for NS19 but sources say they will be back in NW 19 so looks like seasonal.

You never know Mark but at least YBBN will get the EVA 787-10 later this year which will be great.

Lots of new types already confirmed this year.757F,320NEO,737MAX9 and of course the 737MAX8 has already commenced.Air Van with the E-190 is also a strong possibility.
If Air Kirabati remove the code share with Solomons they may fly to BNE with the E2-190 ?

PAE 757F did another training flight to SYD today and must be ready to start cargo flights soon internationally.

In regards to Samoa they will reduce to once weekly from 6 Feb till 10 April from 2 to 1 weekly to BNE however flights will now be daylight so a good chance to photo the 737-800 and then in March the MAX 9.Flights then go back to the night time twice weekly once again.

Brisbane Airport's longest serving employee celebrates 50 years on the tarmac

From smoking on planes to spotting debris as it flies off aircraft, one man has seen it all when it comes to life at Brisbane Airport.

Over 50 years airside operations officer John Hansford has seen airlines come and go, as well as being part of moving the airport from Eagle Farm to its current location.

"When I first started at Eagle Farm we did everything," he told ABC Radio Brisbane's Steve Austin.

"We had the workshops there and we would make everything from scratch — it was like a little city and a big family."

Mr Hansford has also been a front-row observer to how air travel and behaviour has adapted to societal norms.

"People would come off the planes smoking," he recalled of the early years.

"You weren't supposed to smoke inside the security fence, and even though there were no-smoking signs on the fence, they still did."

Runway update

Thursday 4 July 2019: The construction of Brisbane’s new runway (BNR) has reached a critical milestone, with the application of asphalt - the final layer of the runway’s pavement – commencing today.

Over the next three months, more than 100,000 tonnes of aircraft-grade asphalt will be placed on top of the runway’s 2.5 metres of compacted sand and 600-milimetre layer of fine crushed rock.

Fulton Hogan has been subcontracted by Skyway to produce a specially-designed asphalt on site that allows flexibility, load-spreading capacity, deformation resistance and the ability to withstand aircraft-induced shear stresses and high temperatures.

“Asphalt is the final layer of Brisbane’s new runway – the icing on the cake that is an internationally tried and tested runway pavement design.

“Given that site preparation and reclamation works for the new runway commenced way back in July 2012, it is incredibly exciting to be reaching a point where the end of construction is now in sight,” Mr Coughlan said.

Airfield conduits and pits 90 per cent complete.
Modified fine crushed rock (taxiway pavement base course) 80 per cent complete.
Taxiway concrete (final taxiway pavement layer) more than 50 per cent complete.

Following the completion of the construction programme, the detailed commissioning process for the new ground lighting, navigational aids and control tower systems will commence.

Brisbane’s new runway remains on track to be operational in mid-2020

Cool! Thanks a lot. I was on holiday in Malaysia to visit my family when I found out the A220 had come to Kuala Lumpur to do a demo. On Saturday 2 Hi Fly 340's were side by side as one replaced the other.

Brisbane Airport makes space for grounded aircraft

Brisbane Airport has brought forward the decommissioning of a cross runway to create additional parking space for grounded aircraft.

The move is among a number of measures undertaken to help airlines store unused planes, including creating 10 dedicated parking zones, accommodating 100 aircraft free of charge and facilitating bays being switched back on when needed.

The airport has pledged it will “keep the lights on and the front door to Queensland open” despite operating a heavily reduced service.

Chief executive Gert-Jan de Graaff said, “The cross runway was to be decommissioned in May as part of the Operational Readiness and Testing program for Brisbane’s new runway, but in these unprecedented times it was crucial that we do everything we can to support our airline partners, so we brought this process forward.

“We have created an additional 10 dedicated parking zones to accommodate the increased demand, including runway 14/32, Taxiway Papa (the original decommissioned runway for BNE), the logistics apron and various other aprons that have been modified to accommodate additional aircraft.

“Alongside the provision of aircraft parking free of charge, we are working with the airlines to offer support on a case by case basis to assist when and where we can.

“Despite the challenges we’re all currently facing, we should remain confident that recovery will come and that we must be ready to not only return to normal, but to prosper.

“Brisbane Airport is confident and standing ready to support the many industries reliant on 24/7 connectivity across Australia and the globe.”

I am getting a bit confused as i keep seeing all these airlines are not suppose to be flying to BNE currently but they are.

EVA is in again today the 3rd time in a week.SQ 265 came in yesterday.Korean Air 787-9 landed earlier and also Emirates 77W also.

None of these 4 should be here but i guess they are carrying freight.

Skytraders have been in twice this week and Omni is showing all up 3 flights to BNE this week as well.

Solomons flew BNE-HIR-BNE yesterday.Air Kirabati flew to TRW for the first time 2 days ago.

There are still about 40 airlines flying to BNE still and today we have Townsville Airlines B1900.

Yesterday Seair Twin Otter did 2 flights.

The fifo business is busier than usual with Alliance very busy as well as Corporate Air,Hevilift,Skytrans and some REX flights.
Small carriers such as Machjet,GWA,and Austrek are doing flights as well.

BNE handled close to 270 movements yesterday with PER being the busiest capital city airport in Australia for movements with BNE 2nd.

SYD was 3rd.
