Yesterday VH-ZNI QF7028 flew Lima to BNE .This flight had around 115 pax on board for repat people wanting to get home.

To my knowledge this is the first pax flight non stop to BNE from anywhere in Sth America.:)

Today another historic flight for BNE.

VH-VPD 77W CDG-BNE non stop without pax on board.Around a 19 hr flight non stop.

Looks like LIFEFLIGHT out of Brisbane has leased 2 x ex. RAAF Challengers VH-OFA & VH-OFC.

Transferred on the reg 24/02/20.

Not sure when they are due ?

Looks like VH-OFB will be joining her sisters at LIFEFLIGHT

All 3 have been converted into medical aircraft. This is a new market which is gaining momentum in this country.

Not a new market, just sadly a growing one, lifeflight have had a 604 and some Lear 45s donated by SIngapore Air on the books since at least 2010. Pel Air have also been active in the market with their Westwinds from 2007

I have been a bit quiet recently due to issues at home.

Our current viewing area reopens tomorrow but our new viewing area has been put on hold till airport traffic resumes and income comes in to BAC.

Anyway up here in QLD we are still getting decent movements weekdays and around 237 movements on Wednesday this week was our busiest for awhile and 2nd only to PER in recent times.

Today we had our first MU 77W ever with a 2nd one on Sunday.:)

Nearly 40 airlines including military, freight, pax, regional, fifo, international are still flying through BNE on a weekly basis including 5 or 6 small commuters.
The Big boys such as EK,Hi fly,CX,SQ,MH,MU,KE,BR,CI,QF,VA and smaller internationals such as ON,IE,PX, are still flying usually freight or repat pax.

Today we had our 4th flight of Hevilift PNG to BNE in the past 6 weeks or so.

Domestically Skytraders,QF,VA,QQ,HT,Corporate,Skytrans,Gam air,REX and more are also very busy.

I believe that another Alliance F70 due next week on delivery?

New flight paths will commence off of the current 01R-19L runway this Thursday 21May 2020.There won't be too much of a difference, however it is best to get this up and running before the new 01L-19R opens in 8 weeks time.Lots of new Sids and stars about to start at BNE.

Also Qatar resume BNE this Thursday as well with the A350-1000 which will be the first of type for BNE.

Today we had the first CX 350-1000 departure ever.
BNE also had Alpha 3 departures today and 5 Heavies used the shorter runway.

Our SAA 340 was cancelled today sadly.

I posted 26 photos on the flickr from yesterday and today.Hope you like.

While BNE has been sprinkling it’s new runway, up the road on Sunday at Maroochydore will see the first ops into their new Runway 13/31, all 2450m of it, which should help ops. When there is a strong sea breeze on the current runway often cross wind limits operations.

Since i last posted any movements on the 10th June there has been plenty of RAAF aircraft movements .
Townsville Airlines B1900D is now a regular each week .There are so many new commuter operators through BNE and new ports such as BNE-Maitland etc.

The Fifo operators have been super busy with Alliance having as many as 30 movements a day at BNE on weekdays.

9H-FCM Air Charter X E-190 was possibly our best movement since 10 June on 14 June

CX have been bringing in lot's of 77W aircraft which BNE never got and the occasional 35K

Yesterday B-LXB was in.

SQ brought in their first 78X flight here yesterday .9V-SCL

https://www.flickr.com/photos/79487691@N07/

Vic Ambulance B200 VH-VAI was a great visitor here on 18 June.

Qatar have extended BNE from 20 May to 24 Oct at this stage with their A350-1000 3 nights a week but in October it will be in at 1710 hrs so a photo opportunity.

Not many foreign biz but N716AS and 9H-VLH,ZK-RXD come to mind as well as locals such as VH-IER and VH-EIH both fairly rare at BNE.

Today we have our first FJ aircraft for a few months with DQ-FJN here now.

These international airlines have been very regular since the virus arrived.

BR,CI,CX,SQ,IE,ON,IK,QF,VA,NZ,PX,5K,EK,QR,CZ,MU.

PS We are hoping for our first CZ 787-9 next week?

2 WEEKS today the new runway opens on 12 July.

Brisbane Airport more than twice as busy as Sydney

Queensland’s decision to reshut its border to NSW has bizarrely caused Brisbane to surge past Sydney to become the country’s busiest airport by a huge margin, Australian Aviation can reveal.

The knock-on effect of Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s restrictions meant Brisbane clocked up 324,188 total passengers in August versus Sydney’s 129,000.

Significantly, the Queensland capital’s numbers were down only slightly from July (358,537) whereas the NSW capital’s collapsed 60 per cent (from 317,000).

Lloyd, looks like one of the elements is out in your lens creating the blurry part of the photo. Send it to Canon to have it repaired mate. I have had the same issue on my lens.

Sean L

In my opinion, if Lloyd's 75-300mm was the one that was damaged, I wouldn't fix it. it's not worth it. I'd reckon buying a new lens to replace it, would make more sense. the 75-300mm aint exactly the sharpest lens to begin with and pairing it with the extremely punishing 32mp APS-C sensor of the 90D will make the impurities stand out. I own this lens and have paired it with a less punishing 10mp APS-C sensor, but the impurities are still noticeable. if you want to stick with the 75-300mm, I'd recommend buying another copy to replace it, chances are, it'll cost you more to repair it than to buy a new copy. If it's your 18-135mm that's damaged, then repairing it would make more sense than to buy a new copy.

All good mate. The 55-250 will be a worth replacement until you get a new lens. unless its the IS STM version. then the 55-250 will become an upgrade to the 75-300mm.

The Courier Mail had a article on the new terminal planned to be built before 2032 .
It will cost 1 Billion dollars however another 2 Billion will be spent on other projects as well.
I guess a Mass Transit System will be part of that?

lloyd fox
2nd June 2021, 08:08 AM
Here is a photo from BAC of the new terminal. It will be operational by 2032 and earlier if BNE wins the 2032 Olympics. That will be decided next month.

On the front side of the terminal running along the top northern and western section is a new retail shopping complex.

You can see a nice green courtyard at the front of the new terminal. They plan to plant lot's of tropical plants both in and outside of the terminal.

Also you can see the large building near the other 2 car parks. It will be the new transport interchange building where all modes of transport including a monorail will arrive.I believe check in can also be done here before entering the terminal.

The new terminal will be both Domestic and International.

BNE will be a world class airport.

Queensland Regional Aeromedical Base proposed for Brisbane Airport
Aeromedical Facility - Render 2

Monday 11 April 2022: Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) is planning to deliver a $72M Queensland Regional Aeromedical Base that will connect more Queenslanders to major hospitals and life-saving medical care.

The 14,470m² multi-tenanted facility will be located between Brisbane Airport’s two runways at the Airport North Precinct and will accommodate the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS), LifeFlight, and Queensland Health facilities.

It will feature new patient transfer facilities, state-of-the-art hangars for fixed and rotary wing aircraft, administration areas, and a medical base for regional patient and donor transfers.

With more than half of Queensland’s five-million-plus population living outside of the greater Brisbane area, the Queensland Regional Aeromedical Base will play a critical role in connecting and supporting the regions.

Gert-Jan de Graaff, BAC’s CEO, said the airport offered an unparalleled aeromedical address with the size and flexibility needed to deliver special purpose developments.

“As the heart of the Queensland network for patient retrieval and medical transfers, the Queensland Regional Aeromedical Base at Brisbane Airport will enhance the network of aeromedical bases located throughout regional Queensland.

“A world-class development like this is not only a reflection of the strategic value of Brisbane Airport’s location and amenity, but also of our ability to deliver the best aeronautical connectivity and capacity thanks to our parallel runway system,” Mr de Graaff said.

“Minutes can quite literally be the difference between life and death when it comes to aeromedical services.

“Brisbane Airport is the logical choice for such a facility, providing the quickest possible response time to get planes and helicopters in the air and on their way to the regions and bring patients in to Queensland’s major hospitals.

“We are working with the State Government, RFDS, and LifeFlight to finalise these plans and will then seek approval from the Federal Government to proceed with this new facility to provide critical medical care to Queenslanders who live outside of Greater Brisbane.”

Construction of the facility will support an estimated 200 jobs and a further 220 direct jobs that will contribute an annual economic benefit to the State of $100M.

The Queensland Aeromedical Base is scheduled for completion in April 2023.

Brisbane Airport CEO expects a full domestic travel recovery in 2023

Brisbane Airport CEO expects a full domestic travel recovery in 2023

Brisbane Airport ( BNE )“My biggest prediction is that, when passengers travel in 2032, they will be travelling through a completely new state-of-the-art Brisbane Airport, net zero, or even climate positive Scope 1 and 2, with new mass transport solutions to and from each terminal.” He says: “Travel – leisure and business combined – is now at about 90 per cent of pre-COVID levels and we believe that we will be back at 2019 levels in early 2023.

Airlines need time to restart – some countries are still closed or have restrictions – and we need to rebuild the confidence of passengers to get on flights again.

We are implementing upgrades to allow passengers to move directly from our multi-level car park into the security checkpoint, offering a streamlined entrance into the terminal.

International travel has also picked up at a slower pace than domestic travel.

In the next few years, passengers will also see significant upgrades in our domestic terminal.

Brisbane Airport also recently started rolling out new security screening equipment to streamline the process for international passengers.

Gert-Jan is among several key thought leaders that will offer invaluable advice, insights and forecasts for business and the travel industry as a whole at Flight Centre Corporate’s annual Illuminate conference on 20 October.

Fortunately, during COVID, we did make the conscious decision to not go to ‘rock bottom’ in terms of resourcing – we knew that the market would recover.

Ahead of his presentation, Gert-Jan reveals that Australia is very well positioned for a full recovery of its travel industry. The new equipment has a lot of advantages, namely, that passengers can keep laptops and liquids in their bags at security checkpoints. We are running out of domestic terminal capacity and will require additional international terminal capacity before the Games.

A lot of the corporates haven’t seen their customers and colleagues for the last two and a half years and they’re really keen to get on flights again, develop their businesses and seek new opportunities. The recovery of the leisure and corporate travel sectors.

Gert-Jan reveals that Brisbane Airport was able to shield itself from much of the capacity issues and disruptions at other domestic and overseas airports. Gert-Jan also says there are opportunities for the use of biometrics in other stages of the process at airports, for instance, during check-in.

Ahead of the Games, Gert-Jan says new terminals will be critical. A new baggage system will also be introduced, while self-service products and services, such as self-service check-in, are on the way.”

A new Brisbane Airport will take shape ahead of the 2032 Games. The forecast is part of his upcoming keynote presentation at Flight Centre Corporate’s free hybrid travel conference #Illuminate2022, which returns in person for the first time in three years.

They want to come to Australia and visit us for business and leisure. While Brisbane Airport is seeing fewer corporates flying, Gert-Jan believes they will return strongly next year.

Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff has forecasted the full recovery of Australia’s domestic travel industry in 2023. “What we are seeing now is that people really want to travel. “I’m foreseeing this level of implementation to occur in the next five to 10 years. We are planning to build a mezzanine where our new security checkpoint will be located.

Currently, we’re back to around 50 per cent of pre-COVID levels.” In his Illuminate presentation, Gert-Jan will also reveal some of the exciting changes at Brisbane Airport, as well as promising forecasts in the lead-up to the 2032 Brisbane Games. The complementary hybrid event will take place in person in Sydney’s Alexandria and will be live-streamed nationally for interstate attendees.

Historic first flight from Vietnam to Queensland
New era in relations as ties strengthen
Vietjet Low Res

The first non-stop flight from Vietnam to Queensland will touch down at Brisbane Airport tonight, heralding a new era of strengthened trade, tourism, education and social links.

Vietjet flight VJ83 was 100% full when it took off from Ho Chi Minh City with 377 passengers on board, eager for a taste of Queensland. The new service will offer 39,000 seats to Brisbane each year. Additional tourists will support up to 370 Queensland jobs and boost Overnight Visitor Expenditure by almost $30 million per year right across the State.

The new connection comes 50 years since the Australian Government established diplomatic relations with Vietnam.

Brisbane Airport Corporation Chief Executive Officer Gert-Jan de Graaff hailed the arrival of Vietjet as an exciting new addition to the BNE family.

“Vietnam has been one of the world’s best success stories over the past two decades and now has a generation of people eager to explore the world. With direct flights to Brisbane Airport, their ticket to tour Queensland is just a single 8-hour flight away.”

The service is another win for Queensland’s $200 million Attracting Aviation Investment Fund jointly funded by the Queensland Government and the state’s international airports, and is designed to fast-track the recovery of Queensland’s visitor economy

Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe welcomed the historic new service.

“Tonight’s arrival of Vietjet’s history-making maiden flight demonstrates the importance and growing closeness of Queensland’s post-pandemic trade partnership with Vietnam.

“It’s terrific to welcome Vietjet to Brisbane as the first-ever Vietnamese airline to establish a direct air connection with Queensland.

“Ho Chi Minh City is a significant aviation hub and with Vietnam’s economy booming, demand is surging for the iconic world-class holiday experiences Queensland is famous for.

“Our great holiday lifestyle, reunions with Queensland-based family and direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City are primed to make Brisbane a sought-after destination for Vietnamese travellers.

“We’re backing Vietjet with our $200 million aviation war chest for the airline’s potential to generate almost $30 million a year for the rebuild of Queensland’s international visitor economy and support for 370 good Queensland jobs.

“Non-stop flights are also predicted to fast-track growth of Queensland’s Vietnamese international student cohort, which has increased by 24 per cent this year.”

In great news for Queensland exporters, the new service will also unlock thousands of tonnes of freight capacity between Brisbane and Vietnam. Already Queensland sends $20 million worth of products to Vietnam each year including meat, leather products, vegetables and pharmaceuticals. A non-stop service will now allow that to grow.

Vietjet Chief Operating Officer Michael Hickey was in Brisbane for the arrival of the inaugural service.

“Vietjet’s direct flights between the beautiful city of Brisbane and Ho Chi Minh City will ease the travel between the two localities, countries and across the region. Our crew and leaders warmly welcome our passengers on a comfortable, joyful journey with Vietjet.”

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese praised the launch of the new Vietjet service to “beautiful Brisbane” during a Bilateral Meeting in Hanoi earlier this month.

“That will help the people-to-people relations as well between us, because this is a relationship built through infrastructure and economic activity. But what it comes down to is a relationship between our people that we need to grow in the future.”

Vietjet operates around 450 flights per day across 160 routes, with 52 destinations within Vietnam. Kind of ironic she flew with JQ in a ‘celebrating 100 aircraft’ livery yet left early compared to others. Maybe a lemon like the old VH-TAA that got offloaded to PX

lloyd fox
11th August 2023, 06:53 PM
I have a 4 step ladder and no i need another step but as it taxies forward then the fence line disappears but i then lose the Lynden titles as the wing covers it.

I decided best to take it there Brenden.:)

We had another Silkway IL76F in the past day...4K-AZ100 our 2nd one this year.
Sadly it arrived in the dark and departed in the dark so no photos.

BNE based ERJ145...VH-JGR did a BNE-Osborne Mine-BNE flight on Tuesday and yesterday BNE-OAG-BNE.

Lynden Cargo Herc N402LC did it's 6th flight to BNE in the past 2 months last Saturday.

In regards to PX they are wet leasing a 763 from Mid Sep and also getting a 2nd 738 also in Sep.
BNE will get both of these and i guess SYD will see the 738 also.

Another 738 will come in November.
