Hi all
The following was sent to me by a mate, and got my immediate attention! According to this website, an African-based group who own and operate the last operational DC-6B is planning to come visit over to Australia and spend considerable time operating joyflights, to celebrate Australia's centenary of flight. More info here: http://www.yesteryearaviation.com.au/ And from the mob who fly it: http://www.nca.com.na/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namibia...rcial_Aviation What do you all reckon? Sounds like a good deal! This is bad..... immediately I can see into the future of not only taking sick days, but also deducting my lowered paycheck to these folks for some flights! ![]() |

What are the chances that the Canberra flight (March 26) will coincide with the next airport open day?

Thanks for sharing that. I have registered my name.
I will gladly pay $250 to fly on a DC 6. Saw that the site is a bit garbled in firefox, so best to view the site with internet explorer. Last edited by Ryan Hothersall; 5th April 2010 at 10:44 PM. |

Goodness me, I've just discovered the links to the proposed dates and flights!
Apart from the Joyflight, the prospect of flying from Darwin to Brisbane via Longreach (To visit the Qantas museum) appeals to me, and I'd happily shell out $2000k for that! ![]() |

Up until the late 1960s, the TAA and Ansett DC-6B was the primary long haul domestic airliner on some routes.
e.g. ADL-ASP-DRW....about 8-9 flying hours Also MEL-ADL-PER I think the TAS was around 220 kts.

I am also looking forward seeing this classic bird, but I am guessing that its Sydney activities would be restricted by the coming "noisy aircraft ban" at YSSY?
I haven't seen a programme, but where else could it be based in Sydney? Are Bankstown's runways long enough? Just curious! LOL Cheers John |

It's not a 'freighter', so I'm guessing it's not part of the ban?
