Lloyd were the C-17's and Herc's just ferering hospital patients or other equipment?

Also noticed VH-FDR, FDZ and FDT all inbound from what appeared to be Cairns.

The C-17's were all for hospital transfers. Also a couple of Hercs.

Has the GA and freight area of CNS airport been cleared out or does everything just get tied down? Where do the scenic flight companies fly to if they move the aircraft?

OK, so if you are in hospital and need to be evacuated due a storm, I guess you have lucked out twice. However, once you get back home and then get better and out of hospital, you'll have a pretty awesome story about being evacuted on a military aircraft.

Not to many other ways to hitch a ride on a C17!!!

In all seriousness though, hope everyone is OK and survives that thing, Yasi looks rather nasty!

Definitely no DJ aircraft at any North Queensland airports...all have been moved

Safe to say all jet and larger props would have all departed, with maybe only a small number of unlucky Cessnas etc, still on the ground.

I've spent many happy hours at Cairns airport and we are all thinking of you. Good luck.

Not sure if it has anything to do with Yasi, but both VH-ZHD and VH-TJG have been on the ground at Canberra all day today.

AAE VH-XMO was displaced to BNE
The old ITB precinct at BNE yesterday had 2 x C17's,2 x c130 ,Aviation Australia F28 and 727 and 146,Heavylift 734F,5 Alliance F100's and 4 x Skytrans Dash 8's.It would have even been busier but both MD-82's and Hi Fly 343 were out of town.

It was interesting to see a Jetstar 320 parked between the 2 Toll 733 freighters at the Virgin freight ramp.

GA apron had 2 REX saabs and 2 pelair metros,Westwing B1900 as well as all the other stuff including Skytrans RFDS ,AAE 146 etc .

All up 7 Skytrans dash 8's at the field.

Yes i believe all Hinterland aircraft went to WEI.
