Most probally because a majority of the DJ aircraft are not ACARS equipped.
The Embraers have ACARS im pretty sure, but don't use it very often(someone could confirm) and the 77W's use ACARS quite frequency for processing of takeoff performance and company coms etc. I have heard around that VHYFC will be ACARS equipped, if not that, definately Sat-Phone but not completely sure/or confirmed.

i sure did brock, i checked around on the internet and saw that VBY, VUY, VUZ and the hybrids were nowhere near a mel-sydd flight today so i just stuck with dj861
 was very delayed though
