Default ticket classes?

Hi All, just wanting to know if there is an easy way to know what the different classes of tickets are e.g all the A through Z letters that apparently mean something.. J being usually business class? including seats allocated to frequent flyers etc?

I have been looking on www.seatcounter.com and there are lots of classes listed, but no explanation?

thanks in advance for your answers!

Matthew

Just keep in mind that there is just about zero consistency in fare classes among different airlines worldwide. Alliance partners may have some common classes. For example O class on QF are heavily discounted "Red-E-Deal" fares where on DJ O class is used for one of the more expensive flexible fares. The only way of finding out what codes airlines use for what is if you have access to a GDS (ie Galileo, Amadeus, Sabre etc.). IIRC seatcounter used to show award availability for Star Alliance carriers but no longer do.

You need to subscribe to a tool like Expert flyer or KVS which linbk into the airlines GDS systems. Alternatively, log onto Qantas Frequent Flyer and search for flexible dates and business inventory.
